"Hola mami dad welcome to my home or well your home" I say as I'm renting out one or my parents properties. "Hi pumpkin thanks for having us over" my dad says kissing my head. "Bianca and Logan are in the kitchen" I tell them "hi mija como estas?" My mom kisses my cheek.
"Bien y usted?" "I'm great happy to see you settled in" she smiles looking around before we make our way to the kitchen. "It smells good what'd you make?" My dad asks. "Pancakes eggs and bacon there's also cut up fruit" I tell them sitting back down to eat my pancakes.
"So how are you settling back in?" My mom asks "it's been good not too much city life but just the right amount I've got some shops here the markets on weekends I'm doing great and I have you guys closer to me so I'd say I'm settling in pretty nicely" I say taking a bite of my food.
Before my sister could start the doorbell rings the sound flowing through the whole house. "I'll get it" Bianca smiles making her way to the front door.
A couple minutes go by before Bianca comes back with roses and a pink stuffed bear. "Belle you've got a secret admirer" Bianca smiles setting them in front of me making me grin. "Was there a card?" I ask she nods handing me the slip of paper.
I open the we envelope carefully and take out the slip for me to read.
"Sorry about Winston I miss you hope to see you soon - love Kate" I read in my head making me grin. "Who's it from?" My dad asks "her girlfriend" Bianca smirks over at me
"Martin?" My dad asks "Ms Kate Martin?" Bianca asks as I call Kate and skip away to my library. Finally on the fourth ring Kate answers "hello?" "Gabbie?" "No this is Kate" she giggles "girl I know kates voice and I know yours" "who is it?" I hear Kate ask making me laugh.
"You two suck" I hear Gabbie say "Kate speaking" "no way I thought it was still Gabbie" "really?" Kate asks as I let out some chuckles "tots..." "ohhh you were joking huh...?" "yes I was Kate" I say and she chuckles in response. "What are you up to?" I ask Kate "I was eating some scrambled eggs" "that's all your having for breakfast?" "I was too lazy to get anything else have you made breakfast for your family? are they there yet?" she asks as I had filled her in on my family and I's plan for the morning.
"Yeah I made them pancakes, eggs and bacon... coffee on the pot, orange juice and some cut up fruit" "Wow... and I didn't even want to put anything but eggs on my plate this morning" she giggles. "Well when you come to visit me I'll make you and serve breakfast lunch and dinner just for you" I grin "I just get more and more excited to come visit you" I hear her giggle. "I also wanted to thank you for the bear she's so cute you didn't have to you know" "Yeah but I wanted to since they lost the og."
"well yeah I wanted to thank you and I can't wait to repay you" "of course isa" "I can't believe I like you this much... I've grown very fond of you ms Kate Martin and you have no idea" "Well I really like you too and can't wait to see you" "How are you feeling about today? down to you and South Carolina" I grin excited for her and the team.
"Ughh I'm nervous I don't even want to go I have like butterflies but not the good kind" we both laugh. "Awh you guys have gotten this far you got this and even if you don't win you did your best not many people can say they have gotten this far it's all about the journey you know" I shrug as if she could see me. "You're so corny" she giggles.
"Have a nice day Kate I'm hanging up now" I laugh "I'm kidding" "whatever but I actually do have to go and I'm sure you do too so call me later?" "Of course how could I miss your nightly debrief" she says as we've made it our thing to talk over the phone and talk about our day.
"K well wishing you and the girls only but the best bye" "bye" she says as I hang up and make my way back. "So who is this girl?" My dad asks everyone just laughs.
"Don't tell me everyone but me knows" he says looking around "well it's not your cup of tea" I shrug "I grew up hearing nothing but guy talk from you two" he says. "And the occasional girls" my sister jokes.
"Well her name is Kate she's a basketball player" "I love basketball what division or club does she play? It's March madness for college you know" He asks wanting to be more involved. "Yeah she plays for the university of Iowa" "oh she's younger than you?" He asks "she had eligibility but she graduated already this is her last year playing" I explain.
"She's getting drafted to the wnba" my sister chimes "oh shit no way" my dad says looking over at me "well we hope she does today is her last game they're in the finals" "oh really we should put it on the screen we can have a little barbecue and watch the game" he suggests making me pout at his supportive efforts.
"Dad we have dinner reservations remember" Bianca reminds him. "Yeah but I have my reminders on my phone we can watch it on there" I smile over at him.
