We were at our dinner reservation after a long day of going down to the shops near my house. "I'll have the steak medium rare with mashed potatoes and asparagus please" I smile handing the waiter the menu.
I go on my phone and check for the updates on the game and see Iowa is up by 15. "Could you turn that tv onto the Iowa women's basketball game too please" I hear my dad ask the waiter before he makes his way to the bar in front of us.
I giggle "how'd you meet this girl anyway?" My dad asks "umm her friend invited Leah and me to their game and we kinda just got to talking" I shrug "how long?" "A month" "not too long nice."
"What's her jersey number?" My mom asks "20" I grin proudly. "So like who's the bread winner in the relationship?" Logan my brother in law asks. "Logan!" My mom exclaims making my sister and I laugh. "Sorry Salma" "it's okay just not in front of me again"

Iowa lost... I couldn't believe the score. I had made it back home so I wasn't able to see the full game but I had all the feels now that I knew the team hadn't had the outcome that they so badly wanted.
I decided to unwind since I knew Kate wouldn't call until later or even no call at all.
I had finished showering and had done my skincare making my way to the kitchen to pull out some ice cream and go to sit on the couch to watch some tv.
As soon as I get comfortable I hear my phone go off so I get up and go get it from the charger to see Kate calling. "Hi" I say making my way back onto the sofa pulling the blanket over me. "Hi" she sniffles.
"I'm sorry Kate I know how much you wanted this babe but you guys played the game gave it your all I'm sure you had a blast playing with your team for the last time" "yeah but ugh I'm just so bummed like I know I can't do anything about it anymore but ughhh it sucks" she groans frustrated.
"Switch it to FaceTime" I say wanting to see her face. She requests the call and I accept... her face lighting up my screen. "At least you look so very beautiful even after a loss a little red but cute" I chuckle "Bella" she laughs "how is cait?" I ask
"She's fine kinda over it she's with Connor too so that's why" she chuckles "you could've been here too but no you didn't want to come" "i was settling down" "I know im teasing it would've been nice though to have you here too" she smiles.
"You excited to get back to Iowa?" I ask "I gotta start packing up already and get everything to storage or donate it" she groans. "So glad I'm done with that" I giggle. "Go over there and start packing for me" she says jokingly.
"Mm I'll wait for you here" "not going to lie I have not checked the tickets for Texas" "kaaateeee are you serious" I ask genuinely bummed out because that meant I wouldn't get to see her.
"I'm sorry I just want to wait until I have everything packed from Iowa so I could send it over home so I won't have to worry about it anymore" "mm whatever."
"sooo how was your day with your family" she asks "it was good my dad at dinner asked them to change the channel so that we could watch you play" i say making the both of us giggle. "Really uhhh that's embarrassing" she groans.
