Lia stood behind the counter just handing Oscar and Lando their bowls of oatmeal when Max, Checo and Daniel come in. The group greets the rest with a hallo before getting back to their discussion.
Daniel starts "So when someone is pansexual they are attracted to people regardless the gender."
Max nods "exactly."
The older driver nods "Okay, does that mean all pansexual people are to some part bi-sexual, cause they don't care if their partner is male or female."
The Dutch tilts his head, thinking "Well, bisexuality and pansexuality are related. Bisexually mean attraction to two genders and pan attraction to a person regardless of the gender, so I think maybe yes?"
Daniel grins mischievous, sensing the opportunity for a joke. "So, Max, speaking of love and connection, what are the two things you love the most?"
Max chuckles, playing along. "Well, you know, bisexuality means you can love two things, so I've chosen racing and—"
Checo, still standing next to them quietly listening, perks up with a hopeful look "And..."
Max smirks "Cats"
The Mexican man sighs "Miau, I guess"
He separates from other two and walks over to Lia "Morning" The women smiles back "Morning, what triggered that discussion?" She waves over to the other men. "Some post Daniel saw online. Can I get some coffee, please?"
Lia nods "Sure, you are in luck I just made a fresh one." She wandered over to the steaming pot of coffee, carefully pouring some in a cup "Here you go." She also puts down the sugar and some milk.
As the Mexican starts to prepare the black liquid as he prefers Lia can't hold the words "You know Max doesn't mean it like that. He likes to tease."
Checo simply smiled at her while stirring "Yeah I know, I don't even know what I was hoping for. He wont confess any feelings in front like 15 of 20 drivers. He doesn't even feel like that for me, so."
Lia send him a pitiful look "You will get there Checo, just trust the process and keep showing up."
Just then Max and Daniel seam to finish their conversation leaving Max to wander over where Checo is sitting, cradling his steamy cup.
Used to the blonds presence Checo just blows on the surface of the brown drink before carefully taking a sip.
Daniel comes back in "Ready Max?" The Aussie asks as he strengths his legs, waiting for his friend.
Max looks at Checo with a half-smile. "Yeah, just a sec." Without another word, he waits patiently, his gaze locked on the cup in Checo's hands. The Mexican driver raises an eyebrow, but before he can say anything, Max makes his move. As soon as Checo lowers the cup, Max reaches out casually, as if it's the most natural thing in the world, and takes the cup right from Checo's grasp.
The room falls into a stunned silence. All eyes are on Max, who seems completely unfazed by the attention. He lifts the cup to his lips and takes a long, deliberate sip, savoring the moment. The sweetness of the coffee catches him off guard, and he pulls a slight face, but he quickly covers it with a grin.
He hands the cup back to Checo with a playful glint in his eye. "Thanks, O. I mean, I don't get why you drink it that sweet, but it was just what I needed." He winks, the gesture both teasing and sincere. "See you, I'm going on a run."
Without waiting for a response, Max turns on his heel and strides out of the room, leaving a trail of confusion in his wake. Checo is left holding his cup, staring after Max with a mixture of amusement and bewilderment.
The silence in the room lingers, as the others exchange puzzled glances, still trying to process what just happened. It's as if time itself had paused, suspended by Max's unexpected actions.
Checo finally breaks the silence, shaking his head with a chuckle. "That was suspiciously weird, even for Max," he mutters, half to himself, half to the room.
He looks up, expecting to find the others returning to their own conversations, but instead, he's met with a dozen pairs of eyes still fixed on him. The intensity of their stares catches him off guard, and he feels a subtle heat rising to his cheeks, a rare blush creeping across his face.
"What?" he asks, his voice tinged with self-consciousness.
Lia, standing nearby, catches his eye. Her expression is warm, a gentle smile playing on her lips. "See?" she says softly, her tone encouraging. "Just keep showing up."
Checo blinks, momentarily taken aback. There's something in her tone that reassures him, he nods, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, the earlier blush still lingering as he takes another sip of his now lukewarm coffee.
The others gradually return to their own conversations, but the atmosphere in the room has shifted slightly. Checo takes a deep breath, feeling a sense of warmth that has nothing to do with the coffee in his hand.
