Pierre had been pacing back and forth for a while, trying to muster up the courage to ask Esteban out on a date. He'd never been this nervous before, not on the track or in any other part of his life. But when it came to Esteban, things were different. He decided he needed some advice, and there was only one person who came to mind.
Taking a deep breath, Pierre made his way over to Valtteri, who was sitting quietly on the terrace, enjoying a rare moment of peace. Clearing his throat, Pierre finally asked, "Hey Valtteri? Can I get some dating advice?"
Valtteri looked up, slightly surprised. He raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Just because I'm with Lewis doesn't mean I know how I did it," he replied with a chuckle.
Pierre sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Come on, Valtteri. You must have done something right."
Before Valtteri could respond, Lewis, who had overheard the conversation from the doorway, strolled over with a playful grin on his face. "What's this about dating advice?" he asked, draping an arm around Valtteri's shoulders. "You talking about how you managed to win me over, babe?"
Valtteri rolled his eyes but couldn't help the fond smile that spread across his face. "Apparently, Pierre thinks I have some secret method."
Lewis chuckled and pressed a kiss to the top of Valtteri's head. "Well, you did something right, that's for sure," he murmured, his voice softening as he looked at his boyfriend with clear affection. "You know, I'm pretty lucky to have you."
Valtteri's cheeks turned a faint shade of pink, and he gave Lewis a light nudge, though his smile didn't waver. "Alright, alright, enough with the sweet talk," he said, though there was no mistaking the warmth in his tone.
Pierre watched the interaction with a mix of admiration and envy. He wanted that kind of connection with Esteban, that easy, comfortable affection. But first, he had to figure out how to even ask him out. Things with his teammate had always been complicated.
Lewis, noticing the slightly wistful look on Pierre's face, turned his attention back to the younger driver. "So, Pierre, who's the lucky person you're trying to impress?" he asked, his tone genuinely curious.
Pierre hesitated for a moment, but then he sighed and admitted, "It's Esteban. I just... I don't know how to bring it up, you know? We've been friends and then not so much and then teammates and kinda friends again for. I don't want to mess things up again."
Lewis nodded understandingly, while Valtteri listened quietly, his expression thoughtful. "The best advice I can give," Lewis began, "is to just be honest. Esteban knows you pretty well, right? Just tell him how you feel. If he feels the same way, then great. If not, at least you'll know where you stand, and you can figure things out from there."
Valtteri added, "And don't overthink it. Just be yourself, Pierre. That's what's going to make him say yes. There is no point in trying to be different anyways if you want something long-term, you can't hide forever."
Pierre smiled, feeling a bit more at ease with their advice. "Thanks, guys. I think I needed to hear that. Charles would've never been this helpful. I sometimes wonder how Carlos and him got their shit together."
Lewis grinned, giving Pierre a reassuring pat on the back. "No problem. And remember, if it works out, you owe us both a drink."
Pierre laughed, the tension easing from his shoulders. "Deal. I'll let you know how it goes."
As Pierre walked away, feeling a renewed sense of confidence, Lewis turned to Valtteri with a smile. "You really don't give yourself enough credit, you know. You did pretty well in the dating department."
Valtteri shrugged modestly, but there was a twinkle in his eye. "Maybe I just got lucky."
Lewis leaned in, brushing his lips against Valtteri's in a quick, tender kiss. "We both did," he whispered, and Valtteri's smile widened, knowing that in the end, that was all that mattered.
