"Where are they?" Yelena clipped, forgoing any morning pleasantries.

Sonya took one look at her and pushed a cup of coffee across the island. "He hasn't come up yet. She hasn't left the gym in at least two hours."

Yelena left the cup untouched and walked towards the hallway, her nerves were too on edge for any caffeine. She hadn't slept more than an hour, tossing and turning through the night. Her mind cycled images of Y/N's bloody face and JJ's hands on him. She'd admit that she enjoyed his company, but wasn't ready to confront what JJ's arrival meant or all the secrets that kept adding up.

She spotted JJ in the corner of the gym as soon as she stepped through the door. She saw a ring of sweat surrounding the floor under her feet as she pounded the punching bag. She didn't pause her assault even though Yelena knew she heard her enter.

Yelena waved the widow sitting across the room out before making her way towards JJ.

"We need to talk." Yelena kept her tone and face flat. JJ paused and brought her hands down, but hadn't turned.

"Yay. Was wondering when I'd get the pleasure." JJ deadpanned.

Yelena threw a towel and water bottle in her direction before sitting on the foam mat across the room. The foam was cold and unforgiving against the skin of her legs, but she knew it was important to keep JJ on the same level both physically and mentally. She had taken a deep breath when she felt the weight of the mat shift under her.

She took a moment to look JJ over, giving her the opportunity to speak first. JJ looked small, but her body was extremely toned. She'd been working out for hours, yet her face wasn't red and she had already evened her breathing. Yelena knew she was not one to be underestimated.

"You like him."

Yelena's eyes snapped up to meet JJ's, "Excuse me?"

"Y/N. You like him." JJ said again with no explanation.

Yelena didn't reveal in her expressions how frazzled JJ made her. Her hatred only grew with every interaction. Her eyebrows narrowed and she diverted, "That's not what I'm here to talk about."

JJ leaned back on her elbows and smirked, "Oh it's not? You think you're good at hiding it but you're not. Can't hide the look in your eyes when you look at him, or me. You hate me. Why do you think that is?"

Anger simmered in Yelena's chest, she's just trying to get under you're skin she thought. She tried to come up with something to say but her only thought was Y/N, and if he was okay. She was going to ask, but now that would play right into JJ's hand.

"How do you know who I am?" Yelena refused to comment on the accusations.

"As you already know I was at the Red Room a lot. You're hard to miss." There was no hesitation in JJ's response.

Yelena was tired of secrets and feeling left out of the loop, "No. That's bullshit. You implied much more than that multiple times."

"I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know you, I know of you. There's a big difference."

Yelena almost flinched at the response, that's something Y/N would say. He implied they spent a lot of time together, but it seemed she was naive to just how much.

They both let silence wash over them, but Yelena was determined not to break.

"You've kept him locked up." It was a statement.

"Uncontrollable circumstances. I'm sure he filled you in, you know, after you kicked his ass."

"You have no idea how Y/N and I work through things." JJ snapped.
