I'd still do it

Yelena completely avoided him for a week. She was angry at him, and herself. She felt dirty, felt like she had let a total stranger see intimate parts of herself. She spent two days barely speaking to anyone, her body on autopilot while her mind reeled out of control. She replayed every encounter with Y/N, every word she could remember. No matter how many times she did, she couldn't remember a time he'd implied some big secret. She knew he harboured a number of small ones, they all did. But the thought that he carried something so heavy she'd make him leave struck her.

To be completely honest she'd been on her way to his room for a fuck, she later realized that. The sudden flip from horny to angry to unsettled left her rattled. She ignored anyone that tried to have a conversation that didn't pertain to business, including Natasha.

They all tried in their own ways. Sonya seeking her out in the gym to exercise in silence, Yelena's session always ended briefly after that. Kate tried bringing her freshly baked cookies and a cup of coffee, only to find both of them ice cold in the same spot an hour later.

It wasn't until someone, she assumed Nat, had stuffed a file under her bedroom door did she finally think about something else other than Y/N.

The file contained a suspicious, yet unconfirmed, widow hideout. It was unclear if they were still subjugated from the Red Room's reign, or if this was the new bastard's handy work. Yelena packed a bag the next morning and went to get the one person she knew would be best. She knew her sister wouldn't let her go alone no matter how much she begged, but she also knew who'd be a decision she wouldn't feel indebted to open up to.

"Are you fucking with me?" JJ's voice was breathless. Yelena couldn't blame her, she'd barged into her training area and just blurted it out. 'You're going on a mission with me'. In her avoidance of Y/N she had also not talked to JJ since their toe to toe in the hallway. She had seen her around the building, and hated to admit most of the girls liked having her around. They'd all been cautious at first, but an outsider like her would always be intriguing.

"No. Pack a bag, meet me on the tarmac in an hour."

The trip there was short, the only words spoken between them had to do with navigation. Yelena's plan had been working smoothly until they'd settled into the safe house. JJ sat on a recliner to Yelena's left sipping a glass of red wine. Her knees were drawn up to her chest and her hair fanned out across her shoulders. She didn't look like the girl Yelena had spent the last week hating, didn't even look like someone that had lost the love of her life, she looked intrigued. Yelena reached forward for her own glass and stared at the fire in front of them in an effort to push JJ's eyes away from her.

"Why are you avoiding him?"

Yelena hadn't been naive to think JJ wouldn't push her, anyone she brought would have, but JJ was the only one Yelena could ignore and not feel guilty.

"And now ignoring me." JJ put her glass to the side and placed her sock covered feet on the floor. "Why'd you bring me?"

"So many questions from someone I thought had all the answers." Yelena quipped, a part of her curious to see how far JJ would go.

She scoffed, "None of us has all the answers dipshit, that's why were all so at odds."

Yelena looked into her glass, she was right. The tension and the hatred they all felt for each other stemmed directly from the things they didn't know about the other, and the assumptions it created.

JJ grabbed her glass, threw the rest of it back, and took a deep breath. "Take Y/N for example, he's spent the last three days sulking around. Why? Because he's under the assumption you woke up, panicked, and left him. If that's true or not I don't know, but he's convinced it is."
