When Yelena opened her eyes she felt two things. One was the unbearable heat of a body pressed against her own, the second was sudden panic. Oddly enough, neither of those things made her want to actually get up. His body heat was comforting in a way she didn't think possible, and the steady heartbeat under her palm seemed to lull her. She realized her panic didn't stem from her position, but from who may have seen it. The front wall of his room was glass, they weren't exactly hidden away.

Yelena pulled her body away from his slowly, careful not to wake him. Once she made it to the door she allowed herself to look back. His body was still slightly curled in, like her form had never left. He looked so small in that moment cuddled into bed slightly snoring. She wondered if he always snored, or if it was because of the swollen nose. Either way, she knew she had to leave before the image pulled her back into his bed.

Her feet felt like lead as she made her way up the stairs and away from their sanctuary. Her head replaying moments from yesterday and that morning on a loop. She was so caught up she didn't realize there was someone standing outside the door that led down the stairs until she almost ran into them.

"Ohhh, shall I grab the popcorn and the hair ties. I'll braid your hair and you can tell me all about what base you guys made it to." The smirk on her face was sinister and her words hit Yelena like cold water.

"Fuck off JJ." She spat as she tried to push past, but JJ wouldn't move.

"Aww Yelena has it been that long for you? You're not telling me I need to go down and finish what perhaps you couldn't, are you?"

The implication made Yelena's skin crawl, but she refused to give away any emotion. She knew JJ was heartbroken and in a way determined to ruin everyone around her. If she had to feel miserable, than so did they.

"I should probably get down there, can't let his bed get too cold. We have a few more things to, you know, work out." JJ taunted, wiggling her eyebrows, but she still didn't move. Yelena's anger was thrashing in her chest, screaming for her to do something. To make JJ feel as small and insignificant as she was trying to make her. Jealousy like this was something so new to Yelena she didn't know how it process it. Sure she had grown up jealous of people with normal lives, but to feel this way about another person was unprocessable at the time.

She swallowed everything she truly wanted to say, and her response felt like nails as it came out. "Have fun."

JJ scoffed, but finally moved slightly to the side. "Thought you had more fight in you." Yelena's shoulder clipped hers when she stepped to walk away. "You're welcome by the way."

Yelena turned back and her eyebrows scrunched together. While she wouldn't outwardly admit that JJ had gotten under her skin, that didn't mean she hadn't.

"Don't flatter yourself. My appreciation level for you is nothing." At this point Yelena wanted to leave, but felt like JJ's implication went way beyond surface level.

She just gave her that wicked smirk, "You're popular you know. Had a few people come looking for you."

Yelena felt her stomach drop and her panic from earlier return. JJ hadn't just walked up to the door in that moment, she had been guarding it, keeping wondering eyes away. Yelena had to find out who, she needed to leave. She didn't say anything else as she made her way to the main area of the building.

She had always lived her life in survival mode, fight or flight. It created a magnificent assassin, but it did a pretty shit job at developing a real human. Living in such a constant state didn't allow her to learn and understand normal feelings and emotions. Black and white was easy, the gray area tripped her up. She hated JJ, that emotion was easy, almost welcoming.
