"Would we kill him even if he's subjugated?" Came a small voice at the end of the table. Yelena had to give her some credit, to say that in a room full of angry widows, was brave. A response came quicker than Yelena could process though from the scathing blonde standing next to her. "Yes. And anyone else who gets in our way." Or stupid.
Yelena pulled Clarke into the chair next to her as Sonya spoke up, "I don't really think now is the time to start attacking people willing to help." Clarke huffed under her breath, but remained seated. Yelena didn't fail to notice Kate's ears light up at the widow's words.
"I mean she's not wrong, all anger aside, if they are subjugated we couldn't kill them. Kill him for following an order and we all might as well turn the gun on ourselves." Came a response from Natasha, spoken with much more confidence than Bishop.
"I do not care if they are holding a gun to his kin, if I do not get her back, anyone in my way will be made to suffer." Sneared Clarke through her teeth.
Yelena attempted to buffer the situation, "Clarke we are going to work with you but you, as well as us, knows you cannot lead with such emotion."Clarke turned to face Yelena dangerously slow, and she quickly came to realize she had given the wrong response.
In their previous life Yelena had spent a lot of time with Clarke, but the darkness that clouded her eyes was something she had never encountered.
The response was low, so low that had she not been staring at her, wouldn't have believed came from Clarke, "Don't ever speak to me of emotion again, Yelena. Ever. Now, are we going to make a plan, or are you going to send me on my way?"
Yelena did not react in any way, but she got the message. No matter how this played out Clarke was going to shoot to kill, but Yelena knew the other team members would not agree.
"Clarke, I cannot sit here and say I know what you are going through, but you must listen to me when I say this. If a capture and interrogation plan is going to save more lives, than you know we must do it. Can I trust you not to pull the trigger when the day comes?" Yelena was now placing the option to leave back into her hands. Clarke silently nodded and turned her attention towards the table.
Yelena wanted to believe her response, but it looked as though even Clarke herself didn't believe it. She brushed it off and focused on the group.
"Okay step one. Location. We cannot kill or interrogate them unless we know where they are, so perhaps let's get started. It took them 9 days to track a destination, which honestly, wasn't bad considering this person didn't actually exist.
Yelena sat towards the back of the jet thinking about the events they may face. The destination had come about through a series of informed guesses. They knew their best chance at capturing him would be jumping him as soon as he arrived, but the only way to do that was to get there first.
The group's research had revealed a probable widow target located in this area they knew he'd be interested in. Their research revealed him to be tracking and recapturing widows.
Unfortunately, he wasn't sent out for just any freed widow. His past targets looked to be the highest ranks of past widows, including Clarke's partner. Meaning the people that flanked him would likely carry some of their own. That fact only added a heavy weight to Yelena's shoulders and she again wondered how Clarke remained upright.
As the group reached the location of the assumed next target they began to branch out into pairs for lookout. Yelena quickly fell into step behind Clarke, turning to see a red faced archer start to follow Sonya. A small grin appeared on Yelena's face for the first time in days, but was quick to vanish as she thought of the pain surging through the friend in front of her.
