Author's POV

It was already quarter to twelve Amy and Henry walked side by side, yet with a chasm so wide between them that it felt as if they were on different planets. The silence was deafening, the tension so thick it was almost suffocating. Their earlier argument, a storm that had left deep, unhealed scars, it created a barrier neither seemed willing nor able to cross.

Flashback

Amy and Henry were heading back to their own rooms when Henry held Amy's wrist and stopped her...

"What happened?" Amy asked confused...
His expression was hard, his tone sharper than she’d ever heard before.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Wh-What?" Amy stammered, caught off guard.
"Why are you so annoying? So damn cringe? You aren't a child anymore Amy!!! Grow Up!!!!" Henry said as he was irritated by her, when they entered INDIAN DEVILS THEATER.

Amy's heart pounded in her chest, disbelief mingling with a growing sense of hurt.
"What do you mean? J-Just shut up!"
Henry's frustration only grew.
"What do I mean? Why do you always have to act like a child, huh? I don't like this! I don't like that! Just try to adjust for once in your life. You won’t suffer a loss if you just try to be mature and understanding."
"Henry! Just shut up!! You can’t just talk to me like that!" Amy's voice trembled, but she held her ground.
"I know I can't, but you got on my nerves... I mean, YOU GOT ON ALL OUR NERVES!" he yelled, his voice bouncing off the walls of the deserted corridor.
Amy felt as if she was being hit repeatedly, every word of his a new blow.
"HOW DID I GET ON YOUR NERVES? WHAT DID I DO? JUST ANSWER. WHAT. DID. I. DO.?" Her voice rose, matching his anger.
"You? *chuckles teasingly* Your whole presence is irritating. Have you seen how people react when you enter a room? Have you looked around how people look at you? Do you know what they think about you? No right?"
Amy's eyes burned with unshed tears, but she refused to let them fall.
"What? What do they think about me? How do they react? How do they look at me? TELL ME. TELL. ME.!!!!"

he stepped closer, her eyes boring into his, demanding the truth.

Without warning, Henry grabbed her hand, his grip almost painful as he spat out the words that would haunt her for days.
"WITH. DISGUST. You know what's your problem? Your problem is that you are OBSESSED with yourself."
The words were a death blow. Amy’s tears finally spilled over, her vision blurred as she pushed him away.
"Thanks for letting me know!" she choked out before fleeing down the corridor.
Henry watched her go, a cold pit forming in his stomach as the weight of his words settled in. He knew he had gone too far, but his pride and ego kept him rooted to the spot. Instead of running after her, he retreated to his room, hoping sleep would take away the gnawing guilt that had already begun to eat at him.

As Amy ran, she barely noticed the vase on the table until it was too late. It crashed to the floor, shattering into a million pieces, much like the remnants of her composure. The noise drew people out of their rooms, concerned faces peering out to see what had happened.
"I said... it's nothing... I was walking down the corridor and I accidentally dropped the vase... not a big deal... stop interrogating me!" she snapped, her voice sharp and brittle before she stormed away, leaving the broken vase and her fractured emotions behind.
