I answered the phone, my voice light despite my curiosity. "Hello?"
The conversation was brief but left me frozen. I couldn't fully register the words being spoken, and yet, I could feel my pulse racing. My smile faded as confusion clouded my thoughts.
After a few minutes of trying to piece things together, I finally ended the call with a dry, "Okay." My voice sounded foreign to my ears—serious, emotionless.
The silence that followed was deafening. I felt Louis’s presence behind me, and then he turned me around gently, his hands cupping my face. His touch was warm, grounding me despite the whirlwind of emotions swirling within me.
“What happened, firefly?” he asked, his voice soft but laced with concern.
I forced a small smile, shaking my head. "Nothing," I replied, though my tone betrayed me.
His brow furrowed, his eyes searching mine for answers, but I quickly pulled away, trying to focus on anything but him.
Author's POV
Meanwhile, outside the Celestial Heights Rooftop Lounge, Ms. Sherly and Mr. Drake strolled along the quiet pathway, their conversation filled with the nostalgic warmth of shared memories.
But something caught Ms. Sherly’s attention. Her steps faltered as she looked up, squinting at the glowing rooftop.
“Mr. Drake,” she said, her voice curious, “why do I feel like I’ve seen them before?”
“Who?” Mr. Drake asked, glancing up. His eyes scanned the rooftop for a second before widening in shock. “What the hell? That’s Louis!”
Ms. Sherly gasped, her eyes darting to the figures on the rooftop. “WHAT? Then that’s probably Stellan with him!”
“Let’s go and see them!” Mr. Drake said, already pulling Ms. Sherly toward the lounge.
“What? Like seriously?” Ms. Sherly stammered, trying to pull back.
“Yes! Let’s go!” he insisted, gripping her hand tightly as they approached the lounge entrance.
Mr. Drake and Ms. Sherly were just about to step through the entrance of the lounge when suddenly—
“MR. DRAKE!!!”
The loud voices made both teachers jump. They turned to see Cathrin and Victor standing there, both grinning with exaggerated innocence.
