Enzo Marcelo

"Sign these." Mateo's father stands with the papers in his hand. I look at Mateo, then his father, everything in my mind being a mess. I notice my father is also here and I find it very confusing. Why is he here?

"What are these papers?" I question, narrowing my eyes at the old man standing in front of me. Mateo sobs and my eyes dart towards him. Tears roll down his cheek as his mother holds his arms, supporting him. His eyes are swollen and pink that aches my heart. I just want to walk over to him and wrap my arms around him.

What is going on here?

"Your property. Every thing you own, including the business shares, house and cars will be transferred to me." He explains and I raise my eyebrow, anger rushing to my brain.

"Dad." Mateo pleads, sobbing. "Please." His voice breaks as he manages to keep himself on his feet.

"And why would I do that?" I raise an eyebrow, my heart throbbing as I look at Mateo who breaks into more sobs.

"I know you are dating my boy." His words echo in my head as I look between him and Mateo. "I want an assurance that you are not using my son. I want to know how serious you are." His words are blurred, my only concern being Mateo as my eyes are fixed on him who shakes his head, his helpless state stabbing my heart. "And you think handing over my business will help you understand that I'm serious about him?" I ask, my voice comes out firm. "If you don't, you will have to breaku-"

How dare this man bring tears to my pretty boy.

Break up with him? That's not happening. All this work I have done to make myself feel better but when I will not have Mateo by my side, will this all property matter?

"Where are my signs needed." I speak in demanding voice. I take a step towards his father who has a shocked look on his face.

I am well aware that signing these paper will mean that I will be left with nothing, no expense, no car, no house. This will also mean that the Delacruz will become number one businessman of this country, surpassing The Marcelo.

But does all of that matter to me right now? No.

"Enzo! No. Please! Please." Mateo cries, trying to get out of his mother's hold. "Mateo!" His dad shouts raising his voice, his head turning towards the shattered boy making him flinch.

My feet take me to the man in seconds and my hands find his collar. "Dare to speak with him like that in front of me again. I will slice your tongue." I growl, my chest heaving in rage.

He watches me in fear, nodding immediately. I let him go before snatching the papers from him.

"Pen." I demand. Without wasting any time, the man passes me a pen and I snatch from him. All this time, my dad studies me, not uttering a word. I feel sorry for him, guilty that all he has worked for so long is being given away like this.

"I lied! All of this, all of this was a plan!" Mateo falls on the ground making me look at him. His desperation making him so weak and helpless.

"I reached you with a plan. It was a lie, my feelings, the time we spent together. It was all a lie. Don't sign these papers. Don't fall into this trap!" He cries, wailing on the ground as he looks at me in desperation. His hands shake as they reach his chest and I can only imagine the pain he is feeling right now.

A small smile touches my lips before I flip the papers and sign them. I throw them at his father's face once I'm done before making my way to the boy on the ground.
