Mateo Delacruz
I sit in the cafe while looking out of the window. It's raining lightly and the sky is bright. In a month or so, the weather would start changing and I can't be happier to know the summer will be over. No doubt, I love swimming and summer sports but the heat and the humidity is just too much for me. I hate summer and I could never bring myself to be a fan of it.
I drink my iced latte and place it on the table before taking another glance at the window. Many couples walk on the street sharing their umbrellas. They must be so in love. At least the look like they are.
"Yo, man." My attention is brought back by my friend who looks at me. "Stop pretending like I'm not here or like you are one hell of a loner. What's with you, drama king?" He looks at me from across the table as he takes a sip of his coffee. He is trying to annoy me.
"Anthony, stop pissing me." I scowl at him before leaning back in my chair. I fold my arms over my chest as I look at Anthony.
He has slightly toned skin and his hair are curly and short. His eyes are brown but not like Enzo's. His eyes are darker than him.
He has been my friend since I was in high school. Even tho he is an asshole, he is nice and caring. He is the only one who understands me and listens to me. Maybe because he is a kid of rich parents, I think we have a lot in common.
"If you didn't offered me a free coffee, I would have never considered to come." I glare at him and he chuckles. "Dude, you're a millionaire and yet you come for a free coffee. I can't believe all it takes to have you is a single cup of coffee." He smiles.
"Billionaire, millionaire or poor. Free is free." I say with a little laugh and look at him. "So, why did you want me here anyway." I furrow my eyebrows as I look at Anthony who has a serious face.
He looks away before looking at me, his eyes going intense. He licks his lips before saying something. "I, actually wanted to tell you something."
I get more curious as he says that. "What is it?" I ask crossing my both arms over the table and leaning a little closer to Anthony."It's more of a, I need an advice, thing." He chuckles nervously and I see his face turn red. "Don't tell me, it's about someone?" I ask getting a bit excited. "It's not like that, I think. Actually, there is this person who has caught my attention." He says trailing off and I nod. "I am just curious about what they might have in their mind when they look at me. It's not just flirtatious look they pass, it's more to it." He says rubbing his fingers along the side of his cup, almost in a nervous way.
"More like?" I question and look at his hand movement. This guy has never been so serious about someone like this.
"Desire. Need." He says. "Attraction, passion, racing heart, feeling nervous." I whisper slowly earning a questioning look from Anthony."Yes, exactly. That's how I feel when I feel them looking at me. Do you read minds or something?" He asks in confusion and surprised tone.
"Yeah, right." I roll my eyes as I smile with sarcasm. "Where did you meet that person anyway? Have you tried talking to them?" I ask him and he just sighs.
"Club. And no. No I haven't." Club.
"Are you really thinking about someone you met at a club once?" I give him a questioning look. I'm not against the idea of meeting The Person in club, but I know how it ends. Most of the times, it's just a one time thing. Just a casual hookup. Just like Enzo did last night.
Or he might be interested in her more than a one time thing.
"I know it sounds crazy but we have seen each other in the same club many times. It's like they know what time I'll be there. That person never reached me but their eyes never left me. You have no idea about the things I feel when I'm with him! It's all." "Butterflies." I look at him with a small smile on my face as he tries to explain himself.
