Jin nodded slowly, still not daring to look up at her. "Yes, Noona," he whispered. "We’ll find jobs and—"
Y/N’s patience snapped. "And who’s going to hire you?" she demanded, her voice hardening. "What kind of jobs are you going to get? You’re still children. What about your education? What about your future?"
Her questions hung in the air, heavy with reality. Jin had no answer. None of them did.
Y/N crossed her arms, her eyes flashing with something unreadable. "I don’t want to hear any more talk about moving out. You will stay here. You will study. And you will listen to me. Do you understand?"
Her words left no room for argument. The boys were stunned into silence, staring at her in disbelief. Jin swallowed hard, trying to find his voice. "But… Noona—"
"That’s final," Y/N interrupted coldly. "You have nowhere else to go. So stop thinking about running away and start focusing on what you need to do."
The boys exchanged nervous glances, but there was a flicker of something else in their eyes as well — hope.
Despite her harsh tone, they began to realize that Y/N wasn’t kicking them out. For the first time in a long time, they felt like they had a chance, a small glimmer of light in the darkness of their lives. Maybe, just maybe, they had found someone who would protect them.
Jin finally nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, Noona. We’ll… stay."
Y/N gave a curt nod. "Good. Now eat," she said, turning her back on them and walking out of the dining hall.
As the door closed behind her, the boys looked at each other in silence. Jin took a deep breath and picked up his chopsticks, his hand still trembling slightly. He took a bite, and the taste of the food brought tears to his eyes. It had been so long since they had eaten anything like this, and now they had a warm home and, maybe, a future.
They didn’t understand Y/N. They were afraid of her cold demeanor, of the way she carried herself with such detachment. But they also knew that she had saved them. Even though she hid it behind icy walls, there was something kind in her actions.
For the first time in months, they felt a strange sense of safety.
After finishing their meal, the boys retreated to one of the rooms, gathering together like they always had. It was comforting to be close to each other after everything they had been through. They talked quietly, reflecting on the events of the past few days—the shock of being kicked out by their father, the fear of not having a home, and now, the strange kindness of their cold and distant Noona, Y/N.
As they spoke, there was a knock on the door. One of the maids entered, bowing slightly before addressing them. "Miss Y/N has requested your presence downstairs," she said politely.
The boys exchanged nervous glances. They weren’t sure what Y/N wanted, but they knew better than to keep her waiting. They slowly made their way downstairs, feeling a mixture of anxiety and uncertainty.
When they reached the living room, Y/N was seated on one of the plush couches, her laptop balanced on her knees as she worked on something. She didn’t acknowledge them immediately, but they stood there awkwardly until she finally closed her laptop and looked up at them.
"Sit down," she said in a firm voice.
The boys hesitated for a moment, glancing at each other before quickly sitting down on the opposite couch. They sat stiffly, their hands folded in their laps as they waited for her to speak.
Y/N’s expression was as unreadable as ever, but her voice carried a sense of authority. "Since you’re going to be living here from now on, there are rules you’ll need to follow," she began. The boys’ eyes widened in surprise, but they nodded in agreement.
"I expect you to follow these rules without question. Do you understand?" she asked, her eyes scanning the room. They all nodded quickly, too afraid to say anything else.
