Y/N's glare softened slightly, but her frustration lingered. She let out a long breath and nodded. "Fine, go freshen up and eat dinner."
Without another word, they obeyed, sensing that now was not the time to push further.
Later that evening, Y/N called one of her staff members to the side and instructed them to purchase seven phones and laptops for the boys, ensuring that they were of the latest model. They needed to stay connected for their studies and safety, and she didn’t want another day like today happening again.
Once the phones and laptops arrived, Y/N called the boys downstairs. She handed each of them their new devices, her expression serious. "These are for your studies and emergencies. Do not misuse them. Use them only when necessary," she instructed.
The boys, wide-eyed, nodded eagerly. They were shocked at her generosity but also grateful for the opportunity to be more independent and responsible.
As they turned to head back to their rooms, Y/N hesitated for a moment before calling after Jin and J-Hope. "Wait... Jin, Hobi..." Her voice was softer now. "I'm... sorry for yelling earlier. I... I overreacted."
Jin smiled warmly. "It’s okay, Noona. We know you're under a lot of pressure."
J-Hope nodded, his usual bright grin returning to his face. "Don’t worry about it, Noona. We’re fine."
Y/N offered a small nod, feeling a bit lighter after apologizing. She watched as the boys headed upstairs to their rooms, their energy returning now that the tension had eased.
Back in her room, Y/N sank into her chair with a sigh. She wasn’t used to this—caring for others, worrying about them. It was all so new to her, and she still didn’t know how to handle it all. But somehow, seeing their smiles made her feel like she was doing something right.
One evening, Y/N was working late in her room, focused on her laptop, as usual. Kookie had wandered in earlier, his curiosity getting the better of him. He’d started rummaging through her things, asking her all sorts of questions about the objects on her desk. "Noona, what’s this for?" he would ask, holding up something random. Y/N didn’t mind his presence. She would answer his questions with short responses, half paying attention to him while she continued working.
After a while, Kookie seemed to have exhausted his curiosity and climbed onto her bed. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye and saw him getting comfortable, eventually falling asleep. Y/N smiled softly but didn’t wake him. She figured she could finish her work and sleep in the study room tonight.
As she gathered her things to leave, a soft whimper reached her ears. She stopped, turning her head toward the bed, where Kookie was twitching in his sleep, his face scrunched in distress. Her heart tightened at the sight of him struggling against whatever nightmare he was having. She walked over quietly and sat on the edge of the bed, gently shaking his shoulder. "Kookie... wake up," she whispered.
Kookie stirred, blinking his eyes open. The moment he realized he wasn’t alone, his eyes welled up with tears, and before Y/N could react, he was crying—soft, heart-wrenching sobs that shook his small frame. Without thinking, Y/N pulled him into her arms, hugging him tightly. He buried his face in her shoulder, clinging to her as if he was terrified she would disappear.
Y/N held him patiently, her hand stroking his back in a soothing rhythm. "Shh... it’s okay. It was just a dream," she whispered, hoping to calm him down.
Kookie pulled away slightly, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, his face flushed from crying. He looked up at her with big, pleading eyes, and without warning, he clambered into her lap, straddling her waist and hugging her tightly. He sniffed, his tears still falling as he buried his face into her boobs for comfort.
Y/N froze, surprised by his sudden need for comfort, but she didn’t push him away. Instead, she wrapped her arms around him again, her fingers softly brushing through his hair. "Kookie, do you want to talk about it?" she asked gently.
Instead of answering, Kookie mumbled into her shoulder, "Noona... can I... can I sleep with you tonight?"
