jake walked down the dimly lit street, his mind replaying the day's events. the confession, sunghoon's sweet words, and the weird encounter with minjun all swirled together in his head. he was happy, but something felt off. minjun's words kept echoing in his mind, casting a shadow over his thoughts.
"you should be careful who you trust..."
jake shook his head, trying to push the unease away. he needed to focus on the positive-sunghoon liked him back. that should be enough, right?
as he continued walking, lost in thought, jake didn't notice the figure approaching him from behind until it was too late. a hand clamped over his mouth, and he was dragged into an alleyway.
"what the-" jake struggled, but his attacker was strong. panic surged through him as he realized he was being kidnapped.
"relax, jake," a familiar voice whispered in his ear. jake froze, recognizing the voice.
"minjun," he mumbled against the hand covering his mouth.
minjun slowly released him, but kept a firm grip on jake's arm, preventing him from escaping. jake's heart pounded in his chest, fear and anger warring within him.
"what the hell are you doing?" jake demanded, his voice shaking.
minjun smirked, leaning in closer. "just taking you for a little chat. you've been spending a lot of time with sunghoon lately."
"so what?" jake shot back, trying to yank his arm free. "that's none of your business."
minjun's grip tightened, and his expression darkened. "it is when sunghoon's playing you for a fool."
jake's blood ran cold. "what are you talking about?"
"i'm talking about the bet," minjun said, his tone dripping with malice. "the one where sunghoon bet heeseung and jay that he could get you to confess and date him."
jake stared at minjun in disbelief, his mind racing. "you're lying."
"am i?" minjun reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "i've got proof."
jake watched in horror as minjun played a video on his phone. in the video, sunghoon, heeseung, and jay were sitting together in the student lounge, laughing and joking around.
"i'll bet you 100 bucks i can get jake to confess and date me," sunghoon said, smirking in the video. heeseung and jay both laughed, clearly entertained by the idea.
the video ended, and minjun looked at jake with a satisfied grin. "still think i'm lying?"
jake felt like the ground had been ripped out from under him. he stumbled back, his mind reeling from the betrayal. sunghoon had made a bet... he didn't really like him. it was all just a game.
"why are you showing me this?" jake asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"because you deserve to know the truth," minjun said, feigning sympathy. "sunghoon doesn't care about you, jake. he's just using you."
tears welled up in jake's eyes as the reality of the situation sank in. he had opened his heart to sunghoon, only to find out it was all a lie. jake felt sick, his stomach twisting with a mix of hurt and anger.
"leave me alone," jake muttered, turning away from minjun.
"don't say i didn't warn you," minjun said, his tone smug as he finally released jake's arm.
jake took off running, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. he needed to get away, to think. the park, the place where he and sunghoon had shared that sweet moment earlier, now felt tainted.
as jake reached the dorms, he slowed down, trying to catch his breath. he didn't know what to do. confronting sunghoon seemed impossible, but he couldn't just ignore what he had seen.
jake collapsed onto his bed, staring at the ceiling, tears streaming down his face. how could sunghoon do this to him? was anything they shared real? the thoughts raced through jake's mind, leaving him feeling utterly lost and alone.
