the night had passed by in a blur, and now jake found himself sitting in sunghoon's car, his heart racing with excitement and curiosity.
it wasn't the first time sunghoon had taken him out for a late-night drive, but tonight felt different. there was something in the air, something special about the way sunghoon had insisted jake wear something nice and had kept the destination a secret.
"where are we going?" jake asked, his voice laced with excitement and a little impatience as he fiddled with the oversized hoodie string in his lap.
sunghoon glanced over at him, a smirk playing on his lips. "you'll see. just trust me."
jake huffed playfully, crossing his arms. "you always say that! what if you're taking me somewhere creepy?"
sunghoon chuckled, reaching out to ruffle jake's hair affectionately. "relax, jakey. i promise it's nothing creepy. just be patient for a little longer."
after a few more minutes of driving, sunghoon parked the car and turned to jake with a grin. "alright, now it's time for the fun part."
jake's eyes widened when he saw sunghoon pull out a blindfold from the glove compartment. "wait, what? seriously?"
"trust me," sunghoon repeated with a wink, gently tying the blindfold around jake's eyes. "no peeking."
jake let out a nervous laugh, his heart racing with excitement. "okay, fine. but if you're messing with me, i'm going to get you back later."
sunghoon laughed, his voice soft as he led jake out of the car and guided him carefully through what felt like grass under his feet. jake had no idea where they were going, but he trusted sunghoon completely.
after a few moments, they came to a stop. jake could hear the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze, the soft hum of the night surrounding them.
"okay," sunghoon whispered, standing behind jake as he untied the blindfold. "open your eyes."
jake blinked, letting his eyes adjust to the dim light, and when he finally took in the view, his breath caught in his throat. they were standing on a hill, overlooking the city below. the skyline was dotted with twinkling lights, and the stars above them seemed to shine even brighter out here, away from the city.
in front of them was a picnic setup. soft fairy lights strung around a blanket, with jake's favorite snacks spread out. the sight of it all made jake's heart swell with emotion.
"sunghoon..." jake whispered, turning to look at him. "you did all this for me?"
sunghoon smiled, stepping closer and wrapping his arms around jake's waist. "of course i did. i wanted tonight to be special."
jake felt a lump in his throat, overcome by the thoughtfulness of it all. he couldn't believe sunghoon had gone through so much effort just to make him feel special.
"you're unbelievable," jake murmured, his eyes filled with emotion as he leaned up, closing the small gap between them and pressing his lips to sunghoon's.
the kiss was soft at first, gentle and full of emotion. but then it deepened, filled with all the love and affection they had for each other. jake melted into sunghoon's embrace, feeling completely at home in his arms.
when they finally pulled away, breathless, sunghoon rested his forehead against jake's, his voice barely above a whisper. "i love you."
jake smiled, his heart feeling so full it could burst. "i love you too."
they stood there for a moment, wrapped up in each other, with the city lights twinkling below them and the stars shining bright above.
and in that moment, everything felt perfect.
