Prompt: Costa Rica

Costa Rica and her human lover, Gabriel, were very close. She had told him her human name and revealed her human face and had never felt more at peace with a human. She loved him with all her heart and couldn't imagine not having him in her life.

"So why did you pick Ámbar Dulce as your human name?" Gabriel asked her one afternoon. Costa Rica shrugged.

"I like the name Ámbar. I think it's pretty. Even with the surnames and other names changing for me, I've always used Ámbar. It's just as much my name as Costa Rica is." Costa Rica explained. Gabriel smiled.

"That's nice. It's some sense of normality for you," he asked. Costa Rica smiled and nodded.

"It's something that is wholly mine and is a constant, yes." Costa Rica said, smile fading, "It's hard to have constants. You're the first human I've told in a long time about me. And...and I will love you with all my heart. And when you die, I will mourn you for the rest of my life. And it hurts."

Costa Rica took off her glasses, wiping her eyes to prevent tears from falling. When she put them back on, Gabriel looked at her with a sad smile.

"And what about Dulce?" he asked, not bringing up the somber topic that Costa Rica had just brought up, just focusing on their original conversation. Costa Rica couldn't be more grateful for it.

"My sister, Federal Republic of Central America, always used to say I had a sweet tooth, and...and I was missing her a lot when I picked the name. I was mourning her. So I decided to pick a name to honor her by." Costa Rica said with a shaky smile. Gabriel smiled, pulling her into a side hug.

"It's a beautiful name. Reminds me of honey," he said. Costa Rica shot him a confused look.

"Honey? Why honey?" she asked.

"Honey is amber in color, and it is sweet like you. Therefore, honey. You're Miel." Gabriel said, a broad grin on his face. Costa Rica smiled back.

"I like that," she said.

"Good, 'cause that's going to be my nickname for you from now on," Gabriel said. Costa Rica leaned into his side.

"It's a good nickname. Especially because I love eating and making honey," Costa Rica said before shaking her head, "How did I never realize that my human name was just a description of honey?"

"Because you focus too much on big things and not the little funny things in life that make life more fun." Gabriel pointed out. Costa Rica sighed.

"Isn't that the truth? I mean, I can, but it's hard. Too much stuff we have to be a part of that takes up all the focus." Costa Rica said.

"Don't worry, Miel, I'll be here to help show you the little things in life."

"Thank you, Gabriel."
