My head has been busy and working hard since the conversation with Jay yesterday. It was a lot to take in, especially because I had a decision to make.

I don't have to make a decision now, but the longer it goes, the harder it's going to be. You always want to wait until you feel ready, but the truth is, you will never be ready; you just have to do it.

"You look beautiful," Prince Heeseung said with a wide smile as he walked into the room.

"You don't look bad either," I replied as I looked at him in the reflection from the mirror.

Prince Heeseung asked the ladies of the bedchamber to find the perfect gown for tonight. He didn't tell them or me why, just that he wanted me to feel beautiful tonight.

I do look beautiful but I don't feel beautiful. If you are beautiful on the inside you wouldn't ruin someone's life without their acknowledgement. They are basically brainwashing because of you.

The ladies of the bedchamber stepped aside and I turned around to look at Prince Heeseung. He held my hands as he stared at me and my gown. His eyes are beautiful, especially when they are sparkling like this. Prince Heeseung linked my arm with his and the two of us headed out.

Once the door was closed behind us, Prince Heeseung turned around to look at me again. The wide smile and sparkling eyes are gone and replaced with a more serious facial expression. He tried to brush it off and pretend nothing happened by continuing walking, but I refused.

"Is there something going on?" I asked.

"I may have lied to you and done something bad behind your back," Prince Heeseung confessed.

My heart started to race out of nervousness and panic, and my mind went full speed to figure out what lie Prince Heeseung was talking about. What if I was right from the beginning? What if this whole time Prince Heesueng has been under a curse is just a lie and an act made up by him and Jay?

I can't and don't want to imagine what will happen if Prince Heeseung reveals everything has been an act.

"I know you are not ready to be the public's princess yet, but I wanted to have a small celebration dinner," Prince Heeseung revealed.

My heart dropped. I had thousands of scenarios in my head, and Prince Heeseung chose the only one I didn't have. I was prepared for the worst. I exhaled and Prince Heeseung looked at me with confusion.

"I hope you are not mad at me," He said.

"Absolutely not," I replied with a soft chuckle.

A small celebration dinner means a small number of people will be here. It's most likely people who know about us, that Prince Heeseung is dating me, not about our fake relationship. I was hoping it would only be the two of us tonight since I plan on using the potion Jay gave me. Hopefully, I will be able to steal Prince Heeseung's time later and reveal it all then.

But on the bright side, there is a small number of people who know about Prince Heesung dating me which means we don't have to tell too many about our failed relationship. In case Prince Heeseung has true feelings for me it will not be necessarily. But, there is a high risk that Prince Heeseung hates me deep down, especially if he finds out I accidentally put a curse on him.

Prince Heeseung and I walked downstairs to the ballroom, the same ballroom we met for the first time. He didn't lie when he said it was a small gathering. Except for the king and the queen, my mother is the only one I recognise. I expected Jay to be here, and to be honest, I am disappointed to see him absent. I need him tonight.

We walked down and greeted the guests together. All of them are family members of the royal family and the genes in this family are insane.

⚔️

The celebration dinner has gone well so far. Everyone is having a good time, and most importantly, my mother is never excluded from a conversation. All of Prince Heeseung's family members have expressed love to her and promised they will visit her store.

Everyone seems to be busy and hopefully won't notice if I sneak out. I'm not gonna escape or run away, I just want to be by myself for a few minutes. I'm afraid they will think of me as rude for leaving a dinner Prince Heeseung planned for me.

I sat down on the stairs that led to the garden. This is one of my favourite views the castle offers. The night is silent so every little noise is noticeable. Footsteps were slowly approaching me. I expected it to be Prince Heeseung so I immediately turned around as soon as I heard the footsteps, but I turned out to be Jay.

He smiled when I looked at him and I couldn't help but smile back.

"It's good to see you," Jay said as he sat down next to me.

"Is that so?" I replied with a chuckle.

"I mean, since you are still here and wearing a beautiful gown it must mean things are still going strong with you and Prince Heeseung," Jay said.

"I haven't told him yet," I revealed.

Jay nodded. It looks and feels like he has follow-up questions but is doubting whether he should ask them or not. I would like to know what is going on inside Jay's head because based on his facial expression he looks concerned. I never expected the Prince of Hearts to be concerned about me, or me being happy around his presence.

An uncomfortable shadow started hovering over me. I was about to look back to check if it was someone actually standing behind me, but a pair of swords was faster than me. Suddenly, two blades were pressed against my throat. My whole body is shaking out of fear and I'm too scared to breathe because I don't want to touch the sharp blade.

Jay got up to attack the person behind me, but they threatened him by pressing the blade closer to my throat. It's easy to tell Jay is scared by the situation. Is this what Jay has warned me about all along? Is this the people he has been protecting me from all along?

"Let her go," Jay said.

"Why would I? If I let her go, you two will live happily ever after. To me, that sounds like a predictable ending and I like to surprise people," The person behind me replied.

"Then, take me instead of her," Jay offered.
