Jisung had not had nightmares for years but tonight they came back to haunt him. He already spent his whole night overthinking, and when he finally fell asleep, he could not even rest for one minute. That night he kept running away from people trying to kill him, faceless monsters with knives that shouted ceaselessly in his mind. But every time he escaped them, they found him again in no time. And if he tried to kill them, well of course he could never reach them. They were invincible, unlike him.
He woke up in a cold sweat, panting as he rushed to turn the lights on immediately, reassuring himself that it was just a dream. Shaking fingers, pounding heart, shivers down his entire body... Anxiety took over him once again as he could only cry his fear out, afraid for himself, afraid for Minho. Lost and suffering under the moonlight, he realized one thing.
If he was scared to be in danger because of the gang, he could not even grasp how terrified Minho must have been ever since he fled away the capital, how brave it must have been to trust anyone. And to think he tossed his pure love and emotions to the ground, stomped on them with both feet... Jisung's heart was shrinking on himself, hurtfully pounding in his chest as he kept repeating to himself that he would apologize today.
Today.
Unable to fall back asleep before his alarm rang, he dragged his body out of bed and headed to the campus, hoping that he would be able to finally talk to the older. The Christmas lights hanging in all the streets lit his way but they did not bring him any joy. He had thought about spending his Christmas with the older, but well, it would probably not happen now. One more thing ruined.
No need to buy him a gift then!
He tried to laugh about it, but it only brought tears to his eyes. Why did Winter suck so much this year?
As soon as he arrived on campus, he found his friends in no time, greeting them softly to hide how absolutely destroyed he felt inside, but the bags under his eyes betrayed his lack of sleep and overall poor condition. Unfortunately for Jisung, his friends noticed instantly.
"Are you ok? Did you sleep last night?" Changbin thoroughly observed the younger, genuinely worried.
"Yeah, it's just... I'm just thinking too much" he replied before looking everywhere around him to try and catch a glimpse of Minho. He could not care less about the conversation the group was currently having, if they were even talking... He just needed to see Minho, his life almost depended on it at this point. But Felix could not take his eyes from his friend, aching to see him in this awfully anxious state.
"We haven't seen him" Felix said softly, trying in some way to help Jisung. Just like the other friends, he still did not know what happened between them or why Jisung rejected the older, but he could clearly see the consequences on both sides. And both of them were awfully miserable.
"I should go see him in the dorm" Jisung mumbled to himself, thinking endlessly on what was the best to do.
"That's the worst idea you could come up with" Hyunjin replied, arms crossed as he watched his friend sinking deep in his anxiety.
"Yeah, you should give him time Ji" Felix added softly, gently rubbing his friend's back.
But Jisung could not wait one more second to talk to Minho. And as they headed to class, he sent him a text, as simple as he could keep it, but he had to at least try and talk to him. He just needed some interaction, no matter if he rejected him. And well, he kind of expected it.
Jisung
Hey how are you?
He stayed glued to his screen until they arrived to the classroom, hoping to get an answer or to see Minho active but his phone remained quiet. They went to class and his hope died down once again upon seeing the older's empty seat. He took notes for him that day as well, not willing to let him fail his classes without even trying to help. But Jisung could not stop focusing on his pocket, hoping to feel his phone eventually vibrate.
