Your legs swayed in the air as you sat on a chair a tad too high for you and watched idly as the blonde young prince read a book.

You had been accompanying him in his study room since morning, when he personally came to escort you there from your room once you woke up, telling you he'd already arranged for their breakfast to be sent there.

Now, there was still a faint, lingering smell of pancakes and fruit and syrup as you observed the boy. Occasionally, he'd glance up and tell you something, a totally random information that was so out of pocket, other times he'd check up on you to make sure you weren't getting too bored as you skimmed through the pages of books you found in the shelves.

The study room itself was big, but given all the bookshelfs and boxes with old maps, tables with inks and notebooks, it looked smaller to the eye than it really was in reality. Although not as stacked with books as the library they had here, there must've been a hundred at least of them. It felt cozy enough, though, with a now empty hearth at one corner and fluffy carpets underneath your feet which felt like walking on soft grass. You quite indeed did not mind spending time here, even if the only thing you could do was read books about stuff you did not understand the slightest and look how the young prince studied seated across from you at the table.

"Yu?"

He glanced up at you, one elbow leaned against the edge of the table, other holding a page of a book he was just about to flip over. "Yeah, Y/n?"

"What do you even need to study all that for?" you asked, referring to all the various subjects the books littered across the length of the table contained.

A bright smile met your question. Yu's eyes crinkled like crescent moons of ice at you. "I am a prince. I need to be smart if I want to take care of my people properly," he told you.

"But won't Michiaki be supposed to take care of them since he becomes the next king?"

"Who knows what time will bring?" He shrugged his shoulders, taking one last glance at the book before he finally closed it, the leather case falling heavily over the pages. "Anyways, you must be bored. I am, too, to be honest. Sorry for having you sit here all this time while I studied. I guess now's the perfect time for a break, though." He leaned across the table, closer to you. "Anything you wanna do, miss Y/n?" His question was accompanied by a cocky wink, if a wink can even be cocky.

There were more than just a few options available given how spacious this whole place was. You were sure you have explored barely a tenth of the castle with its courtyards and gardens - perhaps you could stroll through the corridors and halls, admiring oil paintings, hand woven carpets and decor screaming of privilege at every step you took. Or perhaps you could go outside, the day being sunny and just perfectly warm, with occasional breeze you could feel stirring your hair as it blew through the opened window inside.

You opted for the second option. Who knows how many warm, sunny days are left? The cold was approaching, summer almost gone.

Yu agreed with your suggestion quite enthusiastically, no doubt glad for the chance to stretch his legs on a walk.

Sunshine rays caressed your skin as you stepped outside. It was quite the perfect weather for the dress you were wearing, lenght reaching down to your ankles but made out of an airy, light material that didn't keep you too warm but still made sure your legs were protected from the dew that hid in the grass where the sun cast shadows.

Yu rolled up his sleeves, putting his muscled forearms on display. Veins ran down his arm like a spider web woven from blood. A strand of hair got caught in his mouth as the wind blew and he was about to say something.
