The next day, in the morning, Aiden headed to the airport with one of his men, who dropped Aiden at the airport curb.
As he walked inside the airport alone, he called Mr. Choi, Haeun's company manager.
Mr. Choi informed Aiden that he was waiting near terminal number one for Haeun. So Aiden went straight to meet Mr. Choi.
It was easy for Aiden to spot Mr. Choi because he had an identity card of his company hanging from his neck.
Mr. Choi seemed to be old as he had grey hair and wrinkles all over his face.
'Mr. Choi?'
Aiden stretched his hand for a handshake. 'Yeah, Aiden, right?' Mr. Choi shook hands with Aiden.
'Yes, Mr Kim has sent me as Miss Haeun's bodyguard.'
Mr. Choi scanned Aiden from top to bottom as he wasn't dressed like a bodyguard at all. Rather, he seemed to be casual: a black t-shirt, a brown leather jacket, and black jeans. Mr. Choi had not seen any bodyguard dressed in such a manner.
Understanding Mr. Choi's suspicion, Aiden looked away at the terminal gate to avoid Mr. Choi's gaze.
Aiden always dressed like that; he was a mafia, after all. When Mr. Choi got a call from Aiden's father, he excused himself to walk away to receive the call.
Aiden sighed and tilted his head. 'This is gonna be tough,' Aiden realized.
The plane had already landed and passengers started to come out of the gate. As Aiden began to scan each of the travelers trying to guess Haeun out of them, suddenly, his eyes caught a slender, pearly, short-haired girl walking out of the terminal gate, wearing a light yellow-colored long-sleeve dress.
She was simple yet pretty. But one thing about her drew Aiden's attention totally; she was holding a cane and a lady was escorting her out.
For a while, Aiden lost himself in the girl; he forgot his purpose to be there.
When Mr. Choi came back, 'Miss Haeun is here,' he declared as he walked towards the same girl with a cane, to Aiden's surprise.
While Aiden followed Mr Choi, as soon as they reached near the girl and the lady, 'Miss Park, Mr Choi is here,' the lady informed.
As Haeun faced Aiden instead of Mr Choi, of course she couldn't see and didn't know where he was standing.
Aiden stood there fully dumbfounded; he had never expected the Park Group's owner to be sightless. Not only him, no one could ever expect this. Like any other person, Aiden thought Haeun would be a flawless-abled girl. But the reality was too different.
'Welcome back to Seoul, Miss Haeun,' Mr Choi explained.
Following his voice, Haeun shifted her gaze to Mr Choi. It was true that when you don't have sight, your other instincts work two times better than any other person in this world.
'Uncle Choi, I want to go home,' she expressed without a smile.
'I'm sorry Haeun, I have to go to the office to prepare for today's gathering. Instead of me, your new bodyguard, Aiden Kim, will drive you home.'
When Aiden cleared his throat to say, 'It's nice to meet you, Miss Haeun. I am Aiden Kim, your personal bodyguard.'
But Haeun looked upset, 'A bodyguard? I don't need one.'
Before Mr. Choi could say something, Aiden spoke, 'I hope you're aware of your circumstances.'
Aiden's daring answer left Mr. Choi speechless. While Haeun kept quiet. Then she said, 'Uncle Choi, lead me to my car.'
Aiden had never been trained to become an obedient bodyguard, never learned to be tolerant. Even though he knew he had to change his ruthless behavior, that would take some time. Also, he needed time to understand Haeun, as she didn't seem to be an easy person to be with.
Later, Mr. Choi settled Haeun in the backseat of her car along with her luggage in the car's boot.
Then he handed the car key to Aiden, 'Be careful, see you later.'
With the car key, Aiden got inside the Mercedes and started its engine. As he glanced at Haeun through the rearview mirror, he saw she was facing the closed window.
Aiden thought she was rude; her behavior didn't suit her face. Shrugging off thoughts of Haeun, Aiden drove. While Haeun kept staring out of the window, even though the daylight never lit up her world.
Aiden thought the mystery of Haeun would be resolved as soon as he met her. But things didn't work out that way. Instead, as time passed, Haeun became more and more mysterious to Aiden, more and more entangled.
Suddenly, Aiden noticed a red sedan following their car from the airport. Aiden doubted if the car was tailing them. To confirm, Aiden turned the car right, then left. The red sedan was still behind them, confirming Aiden's suspicion.
As Aiden took a quick look at Haeun and started to gradually increase the car's speed, he overtook other vehicles.
While the red sedan also increased its speed. Aiden didn't know whether the car following them was his enemy or Haeun's; he was completely confused.
Haeun understood that Aiden had accelerated the car, so she tried to assess the situation. 'What's going on?' Haeun suddenly asked.
'A red car is following us from the airport,' Aiden replied, keeping his eyes on the road.
As fear grew inside Haeun, a fear that had been within her for a long time.
Suddenly, Aiden doubled the car's speed and turned right just before the signal turned red as the red sedan had to stop due to the traffic signal.
All this time, there had been a tension in the car's atmosphere, but it started to decline, matching the car's speed.
When Aiden declared, 'We've left the car behind,' Haeun signed in relief secretly and stayed quiet, while Aiden condemned Haeun in his mind too impolite girl.
