Chapter Thirteen

Mr. Gu's secretary, Miss Shin, escorted Haeun to a private dining cabin.Mr. Gu was already there.

As Miss Shin helped Haeun sit opposite him, the table was filled with well-made food that looked more like art made by the professional chefs of this 5-star hotel.

The room had walls made of glass, so one could enjoy the view of the city from the cabin.

When Mr. Gu picked up a glass of wine from the table and said, 'Let's start our business talk with some wine.'

'Mr. Gu, I don't drink during work,' Haeun replied. She looked very serious.

Mr. Gu chuckled sarcastically.

'That sounds more like a gross excuse, Miss Haeun. Accept that you can't do anything without a helper. You can't even eat by yourself to fill your tummy. How are you going to fulfill others' interests? Do you think I'll join you? No, never. I can't trust you, a blind person like you...'

'Mr. Gu, you should stop now. You are crossing your limits,' Haeun requested.

Meanwhile, Aiden hurried out of the car, pulling out the Bluetooth device from his ear.

He looked mad, mad at Mr. Gu. He had heard everything that he said to Haeun.

As he entered the lift and pressed the button for the 27th floor. Mr. Gu came out of the 2nd lift along with Miss Shin.

Getting out of the elevator Aiden ran towards the cabin where Haeun was. He was worried for her.

Once Aiden reached outside the private cabin, he took a second to think.

The next moment, he stormed inside the cabin, opening the big wooden door.

Upon entering, he saw Haeun's back facing the door. She was sitting on a chair, hanging her head low.

Suddenly, the door closed itself, making a thin sound, which startled Haeun.

She stood up from the chair and turned toward the door. She didn't cry due to Mr. Gu's words, but she looked hurt and sad.

'Who is it? Is there someone?'
Haeun asked.

'It's me, Aiden.'

Haeun felt relieved.

When he asked, 'Are you okay?'

'So you heard everything.' A small smile crept onto her face, showing how bad she felt inside.

Aiden all of a sudden pulled Haeun into a tight yet warm hug. He felt a wave of emotions inside him. It was a feeling of hurt. He was hurt as much as Haeun.

While Haeun snuggled in Aidan's manly chest, she could hear his heartbeat; it was calm, soothing, and rhythmic.

Haeun felt comfortable, safe, and secure. All her sadness went away; she didn't complain or try to utter a word to disturb this moment.

Deep down, she was starting to rely on Aidan.

'Never look down on yourself because a jerk can't understand your worth and blabs nonsense. You're worthy and already
successful,' Aidan said.

Haeun stood in stillness as his words washed over her. The reason for her reluctance to break free from his hold eluded her, trapped within the comforting strength of Aiden's embrace.

It felt as though her will had been seized by the warmth of his care, rendering her powerless against the pull of his arms.

While Aidan's anger vanished. Deep down, he was confused too due to his actions.

Taemin entered the police station and straight went to Detective Jung's table.

'What happened, sir? You called me here urgently.'

'As we have failed to collect any clues in Mr. Kang's case, the commissioner has transferred the case to another team,' Detective Jung confirmed.

Taemin sighed and fell back in a chair.

'How could he do that? Even though the case was tough and not a single clue was left behind by the killer, we tried our best and worked hard.' Taemin looked disappointed.

When the detective stood up from his chair and walked over to Taemin's side to grab his spinning chair's handle, he turned Taemin's chair towards him and spoke, 'hey kid, these kinds of things always happen, but that doesn't mean you have to sit back with that poker face. We still have something to do.'

Taemin lifted his face to meet Jung's determined face. As Jung further said, 'We have to find Patrick's murderer, the meaning of that lion symbol, and solve this case together. We can't let this case slip out of our hands.'

Taemin thought for a second and questioned, 'Then from where should we start?'

'I have an informer named Song Yunha. I guess she can help us with the symbol.'

Detective Jung looked very confident while mentioning Yunha's name.

While Taemin frowned as he knew another Yunha who lived in Kim's mansion.
