It was early, the sky outside still a soft grey as the morning sun struggled to break through the horizon. The alarm on the nightstand buzzed faintly, and after a few sleepy groans, you stretched your arm out and tapped the snooze button.
You rubbed your face, blinking to clear the fog of sleep, before glancing to your side. There, nestled in the blankets, was your husband with his hair a wild mess from sleep, his breathing slow and even.
Marrying Fudou Akio wasn't easy. You never thought it'd even be possible. But here you were, staring at your husband's face as he slowly woke up from the sound of your alarm.
"Morning," You said quietly once you shut it off.
He groaned and turned to face you, resting his arm on his forehead. "G'morning.. Give me five more minutes.."
You chuckled softly, placing a small kiss on his nose. "You have work in an hour."
Fudou sighed softly, swinging his legs out of bed. He stood and stretched, feeling the familiar ache in his muscles from the long hours spent training Resistance Japan the day before. The smell of fresh air wafted in through the open window, cool and crisp, as he padded barefoot into the bathroom.
The mirror greeted him with a tired face — dark circles beneath his eyes and a patch of unruly bed hair. He splashed cold water on his face and brushed his teeth, the sound of running water and his toothbrush filling the quiet morning.
Back in bedroom, you had finally stirred, rubbing your eyes and yawning. "Coffee?" You called out tiredly, your voice still heavy with sleep.
"I'm on it," He replied, already making his way to the kitchen.
The house was still and peaceful, with the soft golden light of the morning sun slowly creeping through the windows. As the coffee machine gurgled to life, he prepared two mugs, setting yours next to a plate where he would later make your toast.
You sat in bed, a yawn escaping your lips. Your eyes mindlessly moved to the picture that sat on the bedside table, the picture from your wedding day. It had been around four years since you got married, and around six years since you moved in with each other.
You wandered into the kitchen a few minutes later, your hair still messy but your face glowing with that early morning softness he loved. "You're the best," You said with a sleepy smile, taking the cup of coffee he handed you. You leaned against the counter, sipping the brew as you blinked away the last remnants of your sleepiness.
You both stood there in comfortable silence, side by side, sharing the quiet of the morning as the world outside began to wake up. Fudou poured himself a cup, and leaned against the kitchen counter, eyes half closed as the coffee worked its magic.
