The hum of the airport surrounded you, the low murmur of announcements blending with the chatter of passengers and the rolling wheels of suitcases. The noise around you barely registered. All you could focus on was the boy standing in front of you, a teasing grin playing on his lips, as always.

"You're really going to leave me behind, huh?" Nosaka asked, leaning closer with that usual spark of mischief in his eyes. "How could you do this to me? I thought we had something special."

You raised an eyebrow, your face as neutral as ever. "You're being dramatic. I have a reason for my departure."

"And how long will you be gone?"

"At least a year in Russia."

He clutched his chest in mock hurt. "A whole 365 days without your charming, stoic presence? How will I survive?"

You didn't respond at first, letting the silence stretch. That was how it had always been with you two (even with Nishikage) — Nosaka talked, joked, flirted, and you met him with cold, calculated replies. Or, at least, that's what you told yourself. You had always been good at hiding how much he got to you.

But now, standing in the middle of this crowded terminal, the boarding call for your flight approaching, something felt different. A tension that wasn't usually there.

"Maybe you'll finally learn to manage without me," You muttered, trying to hold on to that indifferent exterior. "It could be good for you. Though you'll still have Nishikage."

He laughed softly, his voice lower now, more serious. "Yeah, but what if I don't want to manage without you? Nishikage's great, but he's not you."

Your gaze flicked up to meet his, and for a moment, you saw something there that caught you off guard. Something softer. Real. Your chest tightened just slightly — a feeling you'd been trying to ignore for a long time.

"Stop making this a bigger deal than it is," You said as you broke the short lived eye contact, though the words felt heavier than usual.

"You're right, you're right." He raised his hands in mock surrender, but his grin didn't fade. "It's just, you know, I'm going to miss annoying you every day."

You opened your mouth to reply, but no words came out. You had never been good with this kind of thing — goodbyes, emotions, anything that made you feel vulnerable. And yet, here you were, standing in front of him, feeling that familiar tug inside your chest.

Nosaka leaned in closer, his voice lowering to a whisper. "Come on, aren't you going to miss me, just a little?"

You looked away, hoping he couldn't see the slight flicker of emotion that crossed your face. But he noticed. He always did.
