(I've decided to put the day that this story started, just to remember it later: Saturday, August 31st, 2024. Okay, enjoy this chapter!)

(Sophie's POV)

That day was an interesting one. I wasn't really sure where to go on my first day at Foxfire, so I wandered around a bit, asking people where Elementalism was. A few people shrugged and said they had to go to their next class. Just as I turned a corner, I bumped into someone.

"Sorry!" I exclaimed, hurrying to pick up my books. The blonde boy I had bumped into laughed, a sound that felt... Right.

"You're quite a clumsy one, aren't you?" He teased. My eyes narrowed.

"Maybe you're the clumsy one." I snapped. Then I pushed past him and walked quickly down the hallway to see my Elementalism class. Ugh, that took forever.

"Miss Foster, you're late." The professor stated. "And you too, Mr. Sencen." The boy I had bumped into came into the class behind me. I groaned internally as he said, "I may be late, but I'm fashionably late." I rolled my eyes and sat down at my seat in the very back. Oh, great. The boy sat next to me.

"Hey, Foster," He whispered. "I-"

"Don't call me that, Sencen." I snapped back quietly. The boy raised an eyebrow with an amused look in his eye. "And don't look at me like that!"

"Okay, okay, jeez." He mumbled, holding out his hands. "I just wanted to know your real name."

"Sophie. Sophie Foster. Happy now?" I grumbled. Sencen smirked.

"Yeah, I am. I'm Keefe, by the way." He replied. I raised an eyebrow, and then looked back up towards where the professor was teaching us something.

"Psst." Keefe whispered, handing me a note.

"I'm not taking that." I snapped.

"Miss Foster, would you like to share your comments with the class?" The professor asked with an eyebrow raise.

"No." I mumbled.

"Then I suggest you stop talking when you should be learning."

That's when I realized Keefe had slipped the note into my hand and gone to a different seat on the other side of the room. He winked at me, and I stuck out my tongue.

Because I was curious, I opened the note.

"Meet me at the entrance of Atlantis. Right after school. I just wanna talk. -K." I read quietly aloud. I rolled my eyes and shoved the note into my pocket just as the bell rang and it was time to go.

*****

I don't know why, but I ended up going to Atlantis after quickly letting my parents know I was going to a friend's house. The weird air bubble thing was crazy for my clumsiness, and I stumbled off the sponge. Just as I was about to fall, a pair of strong arms caught me.

I was about to look up and thank the person who had saved me, when I noticed it was Keefe. I quickly scrambled away from him and dusted myself off.

"Thanks." I said under my breath. "Now what do you want?"

"For you to explain why you hate me so much. Because your emotions went from being grateful to disgusted when you realized it was me." Keefe replied.

"You're an Empath?" I asked. He nodded. "Well, stop reading my emotions."

"I can't. Yours are way too strong." Keefe muttered. "Trust me, I wish I could stop feeling them, but I don't think that's possible."

"Whatever." I grumbled. "That's all you want to know? Well, it's simple. You're an ego loving, snobby smirking, teasing trouble maker that I want nothing to do with."

"But you still came to meet me." He said calmly.

"See what I mean?" I snapped. "I'm done with you. Don't talk to me ever again." I spun on my heel and stormed back to the exit of Atlantis.

Keefe just kept smirking with amusement.

*I'm sooooooooo excited for the start of this story! The updates will mostly be on weekends because my schedule is super packed on the weekdays, but I'll try to make my chapters extra interesting, so they're worth the wait.

I've gotten more readers than I thought possible on my other two books, so I hope that happens to this one as well. Thanks for picking this story to read, by the way. It's an honor to be your author. Any suggestions are welcome! And please, keep the comments PG, y'all. Not that anybody would ever try anything other than that. RIGHT?!

I've decided to put a Bible verse at the end of every chapter, because why not? Maybe it'll help bring more people to God. (And also, sorry for this long ramble)

Also, don't be judgy. It's not cool. I know Christianity isn't everyone's cup of tea, so I won't force you to read it, you can skip over it, but I hope you still have an amazing day.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in all things give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
