(Keefe's POV)

I woke up with bags under my eyes. I sighed heavily. Sophie had taught me a trick to hide them. It made me kind of sad as I put a bag of ice on my eyes. The cold felt good. But I couldn't help worrying about Sophie.

When I was done, I styled my hair (perfectly, I might add) and brushed my teeth, spritzing on some cologne.

You already know why.

Wait, why am I talking to myself? It's not like anybody can hear my thoughts...

Sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy.

I carefully set Mrs. Stinkbottom on the top of my desk, next to my drawings.

I paused when I glanced at my most recent one... The one with Stina holding her hands out, using telekinesis.

I picked it up.

Sophie looked... Betrayed. Vulnerable.

I would make sure she never felt those things again.

"Keefe?" A snooty voice asked. I swallowed the lump in my throat and shoved the drawing into my desk drawer, turning to face my dad. His eyebrows raised.

"You look... Charming..." He said suspiciously. His eyes narrowed. "What are you up to?"

I covered my anger with a smirk. "Nothing. Just planning my next prank for you."

"I know you're lying. You got your Empathy from me. When will you learn that you can't lie to an Empath?" Lord Casserole said calmly, smoothing his stupid hair.

"Wow, so supportive. Thank goodness I only got my good looks and abilities from you." I snapped. I rolled my eyes and slid past him.

I still can't believe we're related. Obviously, I'm better.

(Sophie's POV)

As Keefe entered the Healing Center, I swear I turned into a cartoon character with hearts on my eyes.

He looked... Perfect.

And he smelled perfect.

He even smiled perfect.

Elwin told me my shifting emotions were being extra crazy.

"Hey, handsome." I said with a flirty tone. I slapped my hands over my mouth and buried my face under the covers.

I heard Elwin's snickering and I lifted the covers just to glare at him.

"You look a lot better. Are you feeling better?" Keefe asked, still blushing from my comment. My eyes met his and I got lost in them. I swallowed.

"Y-yeah. I'm feeling better." I said quietly, not meeting his gaze cuz I was nervous.

"I guess I'm your bodyguard now." Keefe teased. "Your emotional one, of course."

"And I'm your bodyguard, Funkyhair." A familiar voice said with an attitude.

Me and Keefe both spun to find Ro with a confident smirk on her face as she painted her claws bright red. Blood red.

"What? I wanted to be fashionably late. I guess I should've came in while you two were already kissing... Ooh, I swear both of your heartbeats just increased rapidly. Wanna talk about it, Blondie?" Ro asked. I blushed even harder.

Then, with the flick of a switch, my emotions changed. "Get out, Ro, I need to talk to Keefe alone. You're such an invasion of my privacy! You're so snotty with your nails and your comments and-"
