Check out the meme above. (Not sure if it's visible for everyone)

(Sophie's POV)

We kept ignoring each other for another day, and then when I realized the project was due tomorrow, I handed Keefe a note.

It had some very encouraging words, such as: "Come over to my house for the project after school. Or I'll mess up your hair and read your mind to figure out your deepest darkest secret." He's lucky I only went with minor threats.

And when I leaped home, I found Keefe already at my front door. "You have very persuasive threats." He mumbled. I smirked.

"Yep. There's more where that came from." I said proudly. "Did you finish the part I told you to do?"

"Yeah, mostly." He said nervously.

"What do you mean 'mostly?'" I asked.

"Dex came over with the triplets and they kind of... Ripped part of the paper off." Keefe pulled a ripped piece of paper out of his pocket. "I think I can redo it by tonight."

I took the paper from him. "I think that was the conclusion, so we should be good..."

We worked for hours.

I don't know when it happened, but at some point, both me and Keefe had fallen asleep. I woke up with my head on his shoulder.

"Keefe." I nudged him, and his eyes fluttered open. "I think you should head home."

"What, you don't want me here?" He teased. I blushed.

"If you fall asleep in here, my dad will kill you before I can." I said matter of factly.

"Fair point." Keefe smirked. "You fell asleep on me, didn't you?"

"No!" I said quickly with a blush.

"You're a terrible liar." Keefe smirked.

"You're a terrible student." I countered.

"Take that back, and I'll give you some mercy." Keefe replied, leaning in.

"Make me."

Keefe grinned. "Want me to tell you what you're really feeling right now? Because I know you're trying to hide it from yourself."

"Fine. You're an amazing student. Now get out before I get Grady." I snapped. Keefe's smile widened as he dramatically saluted me, and finally left my room.

The next day, me and Keefe handed in our project. We got the highest score in the class.

He slipped into the seat next to me at lunch.

"I guess we make a good team." Keefe said with a wink. I rolled my eyes.

"No, I did all the work." I teased.

Keefe gasped dramatically. "How dare you."

"Look, lovebirds," Marella said, making both of us blush. "We get it. Now, I need more details. Are you at the holding hands stage, or did you skip straight to the kissing? I'm fine either way."

"Shut up." Keefe muttered.

The next day, we were back to ignoring each other. Then I heard people whispering about an enormous prank predicted by an anonymous elf, and I knew it was Keefe.

I went to his usual ditching spot to talk to him as everyone was in the hallways, going to their next class. When I turned the corner, I got smacked in the face with a splotcher. Everyone around me cracked up.

My eyes narrowed and I turned to see Keefe looking guilty.

"I knew it." I growled.

"That wasn't supposed to-"

"Save it." I snapped. "And to think, I was starting to trust you."

"Foster-"

"I told you to stop calling me that!" I shouted. Then I ran away with tears in my eyes. How could I have been so stupid? I never should've trusted someone like him.

Suddenly, I ran into somebody. It was Stina. She cracked up.

"You look like you lost a fight with a rainbow!" Stina said between cackles.

At that moment, I couldn't hold in my anger anymore. It poured out of me with a flash of red light, and suddenly Stina was on the floor, writhing in pain. My eyes flashed with fear. Keefe was worse than I thought.

He had broken me.

*Hehehehehe 😁
