A long vacation was announced just after their midterms exam. The university implemented this for the mental health of the students. This made Yoongi grab the opportunity to go home; he missed his family so much.
"Yoongi-ah! I missed you so much!" Mrs. Min exclaimed as she hugged her son tightly. "I made all your favorites for dinner."
"Thanks, eomma! I really, really missed your cooking," Yoongi replied, returning the hug with a smile. "I'm tired of ramen and MSGs, ugh. It sucks that I can't cook."
His mom laughed warmly, leading him to the dining table. "I told you, you should have learned some cooking before you left for university. But you were always too busy with your music and studies."
Yoongi sighed dramatically, taking a seat. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But seriously, eomma, how do you expect me to cook when your dishes are impossible to beat? I'd rather starve than ruin my taste buds with my own attempts."
Mrs. Min chuckled, serving him a generous portion of bulgogi. "You always know how to flatter me, don't you? But it's not impossible to learn, you know. You just need to practice."
"Maybe," Yoongi said, taking a bite and practically melting in his seat. "Oh my god, this is heaven. I forgot how good home-cooked food is."
"You've only been gone a few months," she teased, watching him with amusement. "Do you really miss it that much?"
"I do, eomma. University food is terrible, and I can't live on convenience store snacks forever," Yoongi said between mouthfuls. "And it's not just the food. I miss home. I miss you and dad. And my room. And even the annoying neighbor's dog."
"Speaking of the neighbor's dog," Mrs. Min began, "We got a new neighbor! She just moved in several months ago. You should go and check on her! Such a sweet woman. She also has a small, fluffy white puppy. It's so cute, you should see it."
Yoongi's eyes lit up. "Really? I love puppies. Why didn't you tell me earlier? I could have visited sooner."
"You were busy with your studies, and I didn't want to bother you," she said, smiling gently. "But now that you're here, you can see for yourself. They usually walk it in the mornings."
"Great, I'll check it out tomorrow," Yoongi said, already planning his morning. "How's dad doing, by the way?"
"He's good, working hard as always. He'll be home soon. He's really excited to see you," Mrs. Min replied, sitting down next to him. "He's been telling everyone how proud he is of you."
Yoongi smiled, feeling a warm glow in his chest. "I miss dad too. It'll be nice to catch up with him."
"And how's university treating you?" his mom asked, patting his hand. "Are you managing okay?"
"It's tough, but I'm doing fine," Yoongi said. "The workload is heavy, and the professors are strict, but I'm getting by. I've made some good friends too."
"That's good to hear," she said, looking relieved. "I worry about you, you know. Living alone, handling everything by yourself."
"I know, eomma, but I'm doing alright," Yoongi reassured her. "And I promise to visit more often. I didn't realize how much I missed home until now."
"We missed you too," Mrs. Min said, her eyes glistening with emotion. "But I'm glad you're here now. And remember, whenever you feel like you need a break, just come home. We're always here for you."
"Thanks, eomma," Yoongi said, feeling a lump in his throat. "I love you."
"I love you too, Yoongi-ah," she replied, squeezing his hand. "Now, eat up. There's more in the kitchen if you're still hungry."
