Chapter 16

Dakota's pov

I'm currently in my kitchen waiting for my parents to drop me off to school. I've been planning on how to apologize to Lex ever since I got home from school yesterday.

I really hope she understands.

I thought she liked me back because, I'm Dakota, who doesn't like me?!?!

But honestly I think she does like me ever since we made up at the hospital. And I want to fix things before they get worse. Thanks to that dumb brunette.

"Let's go kids!" My dad says walking towards the door with keys in his hands.

We all walk to the car and I take the backseat next to Avery.

They drop me off first and I instantly find my group of friends.

"dakota!"

"Aye man!"

"Hey guys!" I say giving them all those bro fist pumps.

"So we heard, that you got some feelings towards a girl..." One of them says with a smirk on his face.

"Ooo what's that!" I say pointing at nothing and walking away before they question me more, making me spill everything.

Surprisingly they didn't follow me and stood there confused. Perfect.

I look back as I'm about to go downstairs and bump into someone.

"Sorry." I say facing the person.

"Lex!"

"Hi." She says.

Okay time to say that apology I've been planning about.

Lex's pov

I got dropped off and walked straight to my locker upstairs.

I was looking down at the steps and bump into someone.

"Sorry." The person says.

Dakota.

He looks up and sees me.

"Lex!"

"Hi." I say.

So now is the time the plan starts.

"Look I need to tell you something."

What the fuck does he want now. No I don't need to hear about your pathetic sorry after making out with that girl yesterday.

I would leave but I need to follow the plan.

He drags me to the corner of the hallway and I can see his group of friends eyeing us.

"Okay, what you saw yesterday was nothing. First of all, I was walking back to class and the girl dragged me into the hallway when the bell rung. Then she made me make out with her but I tried to pull away but I couldn't. You came and saw and she still held me there. I swear I'm saying the truth. Please believe me. I really wanted to be with you at lunch but I couldn't." He says with his eyes looking into mines begging for forgiveness.

No. Why would he give up making out with a pretty girl to be with me? I don't even think he has any feelings for me. He's probably making all this up.

"I'm sorry Dakota I need to go." I say. I don't think I can do this plan. Who on earth knows what he could do during the plan. I can be the one getting hurt. Not him. He could give less fucks I bet.

I need to go tell Tae and Haley that I'm calling off the plan, for my own good.

I hear the bell ring and I rush to my locker.

"Lex please!"

Oh cmon just leave me alone I don't need to hear any more about what he says.

I ignore him and take out my book and shut my locker rushing into class.

I take my seat and get my stuff out.

"Lex!" I hear someone whisper from behind me.

I ignore him.

"Lex!"

"Lex!"

"WHOS TALKING?!" The teacher says.

No one talks and he turns back to the board.

"Lex!" He continues.

"What?!?" I whisper.

"Please forgive me everything I said was true." He says, his eyes look glassy.

I give him an eye roll and turn back to the board.

I ignore him for the rest of the day and get to lunch.

"Hey guys!" I say to Tae and Haley at our lunch table.

"Hey!" They both say back.

"So I need call off the plan..." I say while sitting down.

"WHAT?!?" The say.

"I was thinking, maybe I would get hurt instead of dakota. He probably won't even care. You know how he is."

"That's true." Tae says.

"We don't want you getting hurt, you know that lex. So fine we'll call off the plan." Haley says.

"Thanks guys I didn't wanna risk it." I say.

We talk about different stuff back and forth till the bell rings.

As soon as it rings, we say our goodbyes and go home.

I get home and go into the kitchen and make toast with Nutella on top.

I take a plate and sit at the table eating my toast while scrolling through Twitter.

"Hey lex me and your father are gonna go to a restaurant for our anniversary right now so you can stay home till we get back." My mom says.

"Okay when are you guys coming back?" I say looking at the time. 3:27pm.

"At around 6 or 7 pm? Maybe 8 if there's traffic." My mom says.

My dad shows up behind her.

"Got it. Bye mom and dad!" I say waving at them.

"Bye!" They both say as the walk out of the door.

YAY I HAVE THE WHOLE HOUSE TO MYSELF!
