Chapter 43 : A New Beginning

With hands full of shopping bags, Xu Qin followed Xu Ming to the underground parking lot where the latter parked his car.

Xu Ming opened the trunk and Xu Qin helped him load everything inside.

Finished, Xu Qin turned around to look at Xu Ming ready to bid him farewell, “... I guess this is where we part ways.”

Xu Ming merely stared back but Xu Qin didn't mind. He continued with a slight smile, “If you have any difficulty in the future, don't hesitate to reach out.”

Finishing his sentence, Xu Qin reached out his right hand as if wanting to confirm that they would be on good terms even after separating.

It didn't take long before Xu Ming returned the handshake.

But to the very end, his words were still cold, “It won't happen but I appreciate your gesture.”

Without any change in his expression, Xu Ming took back his hand and opened the door to the driver's seat, “Take care.”

“... You too.”

Xu Qin retreated for several steps and silently watched the sleek black car drive away before quickly disappearing from his vision.

Fixing his gaze in the direction of the disappearing car, he didn't move for a long time.

After an unknown amount of time passed, Xu Qin finally turned around and walked in the opposite direction.

His footsteps reverberated clearly in this empty parking lot.

Creak.

Opening the entrance door, Xu Ming bent down and released Xiao Gou from the leash.

Having come to a new environment, even an energetic dog like Xiao Gou became a bit apprehended.

Xu Ming lightly patted his head and said, “Go explore your new home.”

“Woof!”

Xiao Gou joyfully wagged his tail and started to run around the building.

Xu Ming first sorted out his shopping bags before bringing his suitcase upstairs.

He didn't have any belongings in the Xu family so the suitcase only contained some clothes and several necessities.

Just as Xu Ming emptied the suitcase, a piece of folded paper could be seen lying at the bottom.

Xu Ming’s brows were drawn together. He didn't have any recollection of the said note.

After picking it up and unfolding it, his eyes were glued to the content.

There, three stick men were drawn. The tallest and the second tallest were holding a little smiling stick man.

The little girl must have slipped this drawing when she was helping him pack his clothes the other time.

Xu Ming softly muttered, “... Ugly.”

Unbeknownst to him, there was a faint smile in his usually cold eyes.

“Old Ming, you took in another dog?!”

Xu Ming couldn't help but frown at his loud voice, “Are you deaf?”

Although he didn't want it, Cain insisted on holding a housewarming party and came over with a lot of groceries.

Even after being threatened by his cold glare, Cain, who was not afraid of courting death, sat down on the sofa right across from Xu Ming.

He started to complain while pointing in a certain direction which is likely to be where his house was, “You know what? Your dog keeps crying every night at my house! I couldn't sleep because I thought it was a ghost! I even considered asking a Master to exorcist the house!”
