A Suggestion

Cairo's knowledge was limited, as far as things went with spells. Even his own memories from childhood were iffy at best. "My savior knew we would meet?" Sans raised a brow at Cairo. "can't say i've heard anyone describe him that way, but yeah. gaster had a feeling you would persist here on the surface. after he died, i figured that'd unbind your soul from his kid's dust. seems that not even death can undo a necromancer spell, though." Cairo stopped and gripped his shirt. "Dead..? He's... he's dead..?" Sans stopped walking as well, nodding quietly. "yeah... there was an accident in the underground... he's gone now." Cairo took a moment of silence for the fallen doctor, something Sans seemed to understand and respect. "I have always had questions for him... regarding what he did... and if it worked out in his favor..." Cairo admitted softly. Sans sighed and shrugged. "i can't... answer those questions. but... i can help you... move on. if you want. you don't really... have a reason to be here, anymore." Sans suggested lightly. "Move on? As in..." Sans shrugged. "it's only if you want, kid. i don't know what sort of unfinished business you have, but with gaster gone... your only task as his necro was to be his son."

Moving on... dying... it made sense. Cairo had fulfilled his purpose, according to Sans. But... but did he really? He still had questions regarding this necro thing. He didn't really spend much time with Gaster before he was captured and banished underground with the rest of the monsters. Most importantly... he didn't wanna die. That was the whole reason Samuel Bennett let Gaster use his soul - he didn't want to die. Nor did Cairo. As the silence extended, Sans sighed. "yeah, it's not an easy decision, i'm sure. i'll let you think on it." Sans paused as if he were about to ask a question... but was afraid to. "What? What is it..?" Cairo asked, more curious than anything. Sans hummed and seemed to make up his mind. "which one are you? the human or his son...?" Cairo gave him an honest shrug. "Both. I've been both for as long as I can remember. I have both their memories in... fragments. I am Cairo, and I am Samuel... I just prefer to go by Cairo. It's easier, that way." The necro replied.

The pair parted after Cairo went to his motel. Sans had only seemed more confused at his answer, but Cairo didn't ask. They would be meeting again. That was for certain. Sans knew a lot more about what happened to Cairo than he did himself. All he could really remember of the process itself was... pain. A torrent of wild emotions as their dying souls were introduced into the same body. After that, it had been dark until he'd woken in his saviors arms. He remembered being asked questions... questions he'd tried to answer to the best of his ability.

What is your name? Uh... Cairo... I think... How old are you? Um... 10? Or maybe... 14? ... Do you know who I am? You... are my savior! I am your father, Cairo. Do you remember? You saved me though! You are my savor!!!

Cairo had still listened to Gaster until the day he couldn't anymore and he'd been left alone in the world. He had played the son, the soldier, and the survivor. So now what was he, other than the necro? It seemed only Sans would know. Sans seemed interested in helping, so maybe he could help figure himself out.
