Sam waited outside while Sans talked to Papyrus about him. As much as he wanted to listen in and see what more he could learn about himself, the Cairo part of him strongly advised against it, so instead he was playing with a little bit of blue magic, making the random rocks on the road and sidewalk shape into letters and images out of boredom. A centuries old trick, really. It worked in the 1700s, and it still enterianed him now. The rocks stopped rolling as the door opened, and Sans smiled at him nervously. "you, uh, can come in now..." Sam grinned and hopped on up the steps and to the door. "Finally! It gets lonely out here at night-" As he crossed the threshold, he was stopped dead in his tracks by Papyrus, who clung to him tight. "I AM SO SORRY THAT HAD TO HAPPEN TO YOU - BOTH OF YOU!" Sam blinked bewildered and looked at Sans, who only shrugged in reply. "You Are Welcome To Stay As Long As You Like..." Papyrus had grabbed his shoulders, reclaiming his attention. "Whatever I, The Great Papyrus (And The Slightly Less Great Sans), Can Do To Help You!"

The sentiment was touching, but Sam wasn't so good with the touchy, feely heart to heart emotions like Cairo was. He kinda just smiled and thanked Papyrus before going to the couch where he assumed he was going to be sleeping. "Sorry, lil bro, but today was a long day, and I'm shot... literally. So forgive me for not being as sentimental." Sam explained as he tried to get comfortable. "Yes- Yes, Of Course! Um... Do You Need Medical Treatment..?" Papyrus asked uncertainly. "that's not exactly how necros work, bro. they can't die unless the spell is undone or their task is completed. because our big bro has both souls rather than the one, he was able to switch souls while the other regenerates. i think... he's feeling the 'echo' of the bullets pain, but he's not actually hurt. cairo is." Sam raised a finger. "Correction, his form is, I am still Cairo just as Cairo is still me." Sans shrugged. "i ain't an expert in duel souled necros, sorry." Sam didn't seem all that offended. "Riiight, I'm your first. Soooo... wanna tell me more of what you do know? I still have questions."

Both brothers settled in chairs, one more to listen, while the other was to answer questions. "How'd he go? Gaster, I mean." Papyrus looked to Sans, equally curious. "lab accident. he was working in something big and something... went wrong. i don't know the details, but he was erased from time and space. that i know for sure. nobody knows he ever existed aside from us. and paps, but that's because he was just a baby bones when it happened." Sam hummed thoughtfully. "And, uh, did he like... find a wife or something? I mean, I... I think mom died before me...? She was sick..." Sam looked like he was genuinely struggling to remember. Sans could only imagine what it was like to have two separate soul's memories. "you're right. adelicia did die before you. papyrus and i were born in the lab... created from her dust and dad's magic with a little bit of science sprinkled in. first round didn't go so well, which is why i am the way i am. papyrus was successful, though!" Sans rubbed his vertebrae, laughing awkwardly while Sam sat up. "Damn, really? I had no idea -" Papyrus hugged Sans, and he leaned into it. "that's kinda the point, sam."
"Touche, Sans." The necro dropped down into the couch again.
