It was easy for him to shape wood into something useful. The actual process of carving wood was his favorite part of the process. Fixing up an old chair to sell was such an easy thing for Cairo to do... and if the owner came back for it? Good for them. Their old chair would look as good as new. Cairo varnished the broken pieces to sit overnight before moving on to the next item of business. An old teddy bear. It was missing a button eye it was torn on a paw. Flat and dirty. It had seen better days, that was for sure. For this little toy, he started with the fur unmatting it and smoothing it out before he started to close up the holes in the toy. They weren't big enough to stuff the little guy with, which was why he undid the stitching at the bottom of the teddy. He stuffed it with cotton, sewed it back up, replaced the eye, and gave it a little bow before going to put it on the shelf with the other toys at the pawn shop. "so, this is what you do for a living, eh?"

Cairo started and turned to look at Sans. The skeleton in question was admiring his work on the little toy. "funny, it's actually part of the curriculum underground to know how to refurbish things, and here you are, doing it on the daily." Cairo smiled his customary 'customer' smile at Sans. "I had to learn. It helped me to survive up here..." Cairo explained to Sans as he led him to the counter. "What can I do for you? How did you know I was here?" He asked. Sans leaned into the counter with a casual smile. "i asked asgore where you worked." Oh. Cairo supposed that made sense. "I wanna live." Cairo stated before Sans could inquire about the discussion the other night. "... I want... to learn about you... and Papyrus... if that's ok?" Sans raised a bonebrow questioningly at Cairo. "that so? why?" Cairo seemed to shift in place, choosing his words wisely. "Well... you guys are the last and... you know about Gaster and I... things that I don't know myself. I wanna know, Sans. About this necro thing and about you guys before I... move on. Please?" Sans couldn't say no.

Sans stuck around while Cairo's shift was over. Cairo watched out of the corner of his sockets as Sans paged through a book he'd fixed the spine of while he himself tuned an old lute. As soon as he finished, he got the ok and clocked out before going over to Sans. "heya, all done?" Cairo nodded and Sans put the book back. "my bro wanted to invite you over for dinner. i figure there's no harm as long as we keep the necro thing on the down low- the necromancer spell is kinda forbidden in the kingdom." Sans explained. It was no problem for Cairo though. "I've kept it a secret my whole life! Granted- I didn't actually know what it was until yesterday, but... I can keep it. So... uh... why is it forbidden?" Sans hummed as he thought of how to explain. "the spell... it's supposed to be a life for a life. Totally destroy the transplanted soul to save the fallen soul. it was forbidden even before you. but... for whatever reason, both your soul's are still alive. that makes you an enigma." Sans regarded Cairo curiously while Cairo looked more confused. Samuel Bennett's soul was supposed to die?
