Chapter Twenty-Two
...

Endeavor wasn't sure what to think about his daughter being a suspect in the Illumina Bank Robbery Murders. While she was in the bank he knew that his daughter was too weak to pull off what the robbers had. Her quirk was useless and her skills could only be used to teach small toddlers, to Endeavor, his daughter was a pathetic grueling welp. Just like most of children they didn't follow the path of a hero or even try to follow it. They let their weakness keep them week and besides their DNA there wasn't a thing Endeavor shared with his reject children.

His hair was glowing with his own personal flames that emanated power and control over the wild element. His beard was a raging tiger of firey power and fury as thoughts about his children and the future hero association meeting ran through his head.

Endeavor hated the chairman as he was just a lap dog for Hitoshi Demegawa, the man in charge of the Sakura Television Network. The fact that the chairmen could be bribed was a part of the reason a new chairmen was planned to be elected, until then the heroes were subject to Demegawa's constant and demeaning criticism. The other members weren't much better but in comparison to the chairmen they weren't much better. The only reason they couldn't sell out is because they lacked the power like the pathetic welps they were.

His office was oddly cold for someone with such a firey disposition, yet as his top sidekick Burnin stepped through the door, she couldn't help but shiver. Being so close to the fire hero, she could feel when his moods would shift, and while he was usually mad about something, he was furious.

Burnin had hair like Endeavor's with hers being green instead of more typical flames. It gave her a little edge and helped her stand out from the depths of Endeavor's shadow. She understood what it was like having all of his emotions on full display, it made a person feel vulnerable and threatened.

Despite her best efforts, however, she could never find a way to relay their similarities with her strength obsessed boss. He either didn't care of didn't want to hear what she had to say regarding their quirks. Perhaps it was due to power or something greater. The Neverending pit that was the mound of ego that made up the personality of Endeavor.

"Sir, is this a bad time?" Burnin asked, trying to sound as proper and polite as she possibly could. Her firey green hair was dimmer than usual, making Endeavor seemingly glow like a miniature sun.

"Is it a bad time." Endeavor mocked as he looked at her with disdain. He detested when she acted weak, in his mind being polite to a superior you clearly didn't respect was a form of mockery. Still, she was his best sidekick considering Shoto had failed to skip and grades, and become a hero early like Endeavor had hoped.

Burnin looked down at the floor then at Endeavor's massive boots. Those strong, powerful feet encased in protective and dominating garments made her feel nervous. "Sir I didn't mean anything by it." She stammered in a way she only did when in the presence of Endeavor.

"No one ever means anything by anything, yet the meaning doesn't disappear because you feel a little under the weather." He snarled his words, seeming to take small bites out of her own psyche. He had balled his fists as he felt even more rage build up inside of him. The incompetent nature of the Hero Association was one thing. However, his own sidekick was urking him in a similar matter to the dreaded Hitoshi Demegawa.

Burnin wasn't sure how she should respond, there was a chance that she could make things better but she didn't need to see the future to know that her outcomes didn't lay on the favorable side. "Your son was accepted into UA with no evaluation needed!" Burnin said trying to put a positive spin on Endeavor's sour mood. She didn't know all the details concerning Endeavor's family but she knew no one would tell him about his son's accomplishments.

"As he should be, his power is being recognized anything less than that is a failure." Endeavor snorted his flames, seeming to rise with his arrogance snort.

"Of course, sir." Burnin said her words quick and to the point. She didn't want to say anything that would spark his wraith. "Should I let him know you wish to speak to him." She added.

Endeavor seemed to ponder this, his meaty left hand going to his beard as he deliberately stroked the flames. He found a certain amount of pleasure in doing this, it made him feel powerful. "Let the boy spend his time how he wishes, he has earned that much." He finally said his words as empty as an abandoned Pringles can.

"Of course, sir, I'll be at my desk." Burnin said, bowing and exiting Endeavor's office. Sometimes, she wished she didn't work for his agency, then again with a fire quirk, it was the best move she could have made for her career. Being a hero wasn't easy, and it required backing and support two things she neglected during her years at UA. While she graduated UA ranked seventh in the school she wasn't in a remarkable generation like Shoto and Endeavor were in. Shoto was competing against the Yaoyorzoru Heir, and Ingenium's younger brother, not to mention prospects like Katsuki Bakugo, who was rumored to be the next Golden child considering he leveled UA's entrance exams.

Life as a hero wouldn't be easy for Shoto, but if he was anything like his father, he would be able to manage just fine. Yet she hoped that he would be a bit gentler then his father. The qualities that she admired were also balanced out by those she despised. Her feelings for Endeavor were complicated, but in this world, what wasn't. Heroes, killers, villans they all were running the same rat race, and Burnin was going to make it on top.

She felt her phone vibrate as she pulled it out of her pocket to check who sent her a message. It was from Shoto which was surprising but she didn't think too much about it as she opened the message. Her eyes opened wide with shock as she read the four letter and raced back into Endeavor's office. Shoto Todoroki was in danger, and if they didn't act fast, he could very well be dead.
