Was it wrong that she'd waited until the afternoon to check up on Kip in the hospital? Most likely, but her anger and stubbornness got the best of her and she wanted to be petty. If it weren't for knowing he was okay, she wouldn't have acted that way. She'd finished helping Casey with the nursery while Kevin took Andi to the city to spend time with him since he'd been busy with work and Andi with school. His excitement was far too intense for her to say no to, plus, she didn't want anyone else to know about Kip at the moment.
So after finishing the nursery and helping Bash with changing the oil in his truck, she drove to the hospital alone. Her music was loud enough to keep the silence out, George Strait's voice sounding over the connected Bluetooth from her phone.
She didn't have it in her to sing along to the lyrics of the songs but it was enough to keep her mind at bay until she finally arrived at the hospital, her eyes landing on the familiar black impala Jensen owned.
She closed her eyes once parking beside it — which was the only available space she could find — and prepared herself for the funny feelings that crawled over her skin when she'd have to face the man. It was truly confusing, she never acted like this. It was stupid to her and she just wished she didn't feel out of place.
She was directed into the same hallway that Kip's door sat in by a nurse's finger and she walked down the familiar white walls and knocked on the door before quickly slipping in with a blank expression on her face.
"I brought presents." She announced, not missing the way two additional heads turned to her figure. She held a can of dip in between her middle and pointer fingers while her other hand clutched a can of beer she'd snuck in.
"Oh, fuck yeah!" Kip's cheery voice exclaimed and he gestured her over.
"Woah, woah, he can't have beer, he's in a fucking hospital bed hooked up to monitors. Are you fucking insane?" Quinn jerked from his position in his chair and narrowed his eyes at her as she stretched her hands out toward Kip.
"He'll be fine. It's one beer, what's that gonna do?" She rolled her eyes which then landed on the person next to her uninjured brother. He offered her a small smile before he brushed a hand through his brunette hair. The sight of him made her gulp back the thick saliva that formed in her mouth. "And stop swearing so much, it's not good for his concussion."
Quinn scoffed and snatched the beer away from Kip's hand, the man whining like a toddler at the loss of the cold can he once held.
"You, sit tight." He pointed at Kip before turning his accusing finger at Ty. "And you, outside, now!"
It was her turn to narrow her eyes and she held her hands up in mock offense, briskly turning as her sarcasm cowered from the authority in his voice. "Okay, Dad."
She opened the door and let it shut before he could grab it and follow her out into the quiet hallway, his huff after slipping out the only noise ringing in the air before he started talking.
"I want to know every single fucking detail that transpired last night. From you getting his call to him sleeping here alone last night. What happened? No lies, no half-truths, no missing details, because I can tell from what he told me last night, and the story he told me this morning doesn't add up. There's something he's not telling me and I know you have something to do with it." The same accusing finger was now an inch away from her face, his face seething.
She understood his anger, shit, she shared it. The Costner siblings were born with it, it came with the name. What she didn't like was that she was getting yelled at by her older brother.
