Ty excused herself after some time conversing with Casey and walked outside, pulling her tailgate down and taking a seat, her back sitting against the wall of the bed of her truck.

The night was dark and the sound of frogs croaking and crickets chirping filled the silence around her, lightening bugs flicking around every so often while the stars lit up the sky and gave her a nice image to occupy her wandering eyes.

She sat contemplating the night like she always did, the over-thinker in her coming out to play as usual. It was a habit she learned along the way of growing up, no one could stop that.

A cigarette hung loosely from the corner of her pale maroon-colored lips. Her knees were arched and her boots stuck to the tailgate, her fingers working to crack her knuckles.

The door burst open from behind her and she turned to watch the ongoing conversation Jensen was currently having over the phone. The device was held up to his ear while he trudged down the porch, his boots scuffing against the dirt in an attempt to fiddle.

He looked good, handsome. She'd noticed when he glanced over at her figure when she entered and the memories with him resurfaced. The dreams he occupied while she was away haunted her in a way she could've never imagined but she didn't seem to mind the sight of him.

Dark jeans covered his legs and a nice, white, loose button up wrapped around his top half. The top two buttons were unbuttoned and free to all wandering eyes, including hers. He wore his signature hat on his head that she had come to notice as his business merch.

"Yeah, bud, I miss you guys too. How're your sisters? You taking care of 'em for me?" He questioned, striding further into the depths of the night, not having realized Ty watching him with keen eyes.

"I'll be coming home shortly, I've got a few things to take care of and you and your sisters will be staying with me for a few weeks, does that sound nice? Yeah? Where are your sisters? Let me talk to them, okay? I love you, Zep." He sighed and Ty could hear the longing in his voice.

The desperation to see his kids again.

Ty pulled the cigarette from her lips and blew out the cloudy smoke, her tongue darting out to wet her lips before sticking the cigarette between them again.

She watched him walk even further and past her, his peripheral catching her sitting there. He glanced up and raked his eyes over her before dropping his head down and listening to whoever was talking to him from the other end.

"Hi, my beautiful girls. Zep says you're having fun at Grandma and Grandpas?" From the view she had of him, the tips of his lips tilted up into a wide grin. "Yeah, is that right? Well, JJ, I'll be headed there in a few days."

Ty faintly heard the sound of squeals of excitement and she hid a smile behind the top of her hat, knowing all too well what it was like to have a child excited to see you again.

"Okay, it's getting late and I'm sure Grandma wants you all in bed soon. I love you, girls, I'll see you all so soon. Sleep good, okay? Don't let the bed bugs bite." He chuckled and watched the call end on the screen, a long and heavy sigh leaving his lips.

"Finally goin' home, huh? Thought you liked it here?" She taunted, the words escaping her mouth while the cigarette continued hanging from the corner of her lips.

Jensen cleared his throat and picked his head up, meeting her gaze. He dragged himself over to her tailgate and took a seat without asking which Ty rolled her eyes at.

"I do like it here, I love it here. It's different from Texas, refreshing. It feels like a place I could call home with how you all fit together. I yearn for that again but it's not likely I'll ever get the chance to have it again." He breathed out. "But I'm ready to see my kids again. It's been a month, thirty-one days without seeing their faces."
