2:45 AM

Yet another sleepless night, especially with news Ms. Jeon gave, I've been thinking about it nonstop. I'm unsure what to do with myself.

She's being stupid, and I know she's not stupid, so why is she doing this? Is she in danger? She's grown older, so she's weaker than before, and maybe since I am gone, the enemies have gotten closer?

"What's on your mind?" My bubble of thought was popped by someone.

"Hm, when did you get here?" I turned to him, I hadn't even realized he was on the balcony.

"A while ago, I had hoped you'd notice, but you were busy staring into the unknown." He was shirtless again

"Sorry, I have a lot on my mind." I smiled

"Rough day?" He asked

"You could say that," his scars were more visible tonight.

"Talk to me," I want to.

"It's just that my mom wrote her will today, and it states that I have to either marry or she has to die for me to inherit."

"Oh, that's actually quite similar to what my dad did." He chuckled

Note it down. NOTE IT DOWN.

"So you married?" I asked

"No, no, it's nothing like that. He died, so I inherited everything. To be specific, he was assassinated." He looked down

"I'm sorry for your loss." Who did it? I want to ask. How did it happen?

"Oh please, he was a horrible man. He deserved to suffer, but unfortunately, he got away easy." He looked up

I wonder how bad his dad was.

"But enough about me, what's so wrong with your mom's will? Can't you just marry?" He asked

"It's not exactly that easy. I can't pick up a stranger from the streets and marry him." He laughed

His laugh sounds ethereal.

"Of course not, but don't you have any close friends that would agree to do this with you? Or a boyfriend, maybe?"

"I don't have time for a relationship, and the energy used on friends is too much for me. I'd rather just wait it out."

"That's gonna take a while. Are you patient?"

"I've been patient for years, and it's starting to run out. I need to either marry or wait for her death."

"Wow, look at you. Aren't you a great daughter? Waiting for her mother's death." He laughed

I felt my inside crumble at the words 'daughter' and 'mother'

"Well, what can I say? She's not exactly the ideal mother." I looked down

"Oh, so we pretty much live the same life but in different font?" He was leaning towards the balcony, facing me.

"I'd say so," my gaze fell on him. "Say, why don't we get married?" I blurted out.

"Get married?" He looked shocked, and so was I.

"No, no, no, I'm sorry. Oh my god. I don't know why I just said that. I didn't mean to." I felt heat creep up to my face.

All he did was laugh.

"Am I that bad? It's not a bad idea, actually, let's get married tomorrow. However, I will say that I want at least a 20% share in the inheritance." He continued to laugh

"No, I didn't mean it like that either. You're not that bad. Well, I don't know you, but I'm sure you're an amazing guy."

Just shut up, please. Just be quiet. You're making this worse.
