Chapter 21
"Did you ever think we'd get into this?" I asked. She looked at me as if I was doubting we would be getting into this situation. You know what we've been through and how we got into this situation. Many people would never guess that you and I would be married at the end of the day."
"I would guess it," Synestine said, feeling confident. "They would never guess it dahil wala naman sila sa posisyon natin. They can say all they want to say, pero hindi nila made-determine ang takbo ng relasyon naming dalawa. The future is uncertain, today we could be living the best of our lives, and the next day we would be grieving about losing someone else. That's just how life is gonna be. In short, they should mind their own business."
"I wouldn't argue anymore," I smirked, raising both my hands.
She smiled. "It is what it is. . ."
The wedding happened a few days ago, but Synestine and I decided to stay here in this place where we could be together for a while. Our story started here and also changed our lives for the better.
"You know, babe. . . I kept wondering. . ." panimula ko habang diretsyo lamang ang tingin sa field ng mga bulaklak at pinapanood ang nagliliparang iba't ibang kulay ng bulaklak. "What would be our life like after marriage?"
"Hm. . ." She looked up at me. "What's on your mind? Care to share?"
"I know our love will remain forever and I will cherish that for the rest of my life. Would we go abroad and raise our family there or stay here with our parents? Would we even have children? It's funny how I kept thinking all those things." I chuckled, shaking my head.
"I don't know what's future holds for us, but I can assure you we'll raise our family together. . ." Synestine said. "I would to have three children. I don't mind their genders as long as they will grow up as a good person, that would be fine for me. Do you want to have three kids?"
"I don't think I can handle all that, but why not? I'm sure many people would say 'wag mag-anak ng madami kung hindi naman kayang buhayin. For their information, this is our life and they don't any business with my uterus. Bahala sila sa buhay nila."
"I figured that. . . Anyway, would you like to get some fruit tea or whatever you like?"
"Hmm. . . " Nag-isip naman ito na para bang may menu board na lumabas sa kalangitan. "I think I would just take the usual fruit tea I get. Alam mo na naman 'yon, babe. . ."
"Right. I'll be back."
I went back inside their coffee shop where I lined up to get some drinks for myself. I was looking at their menu when a moment later, someone barged inside the shop and called a hold-up. The man who had his mask on pointed his gun at every customer inside the shop, insisting to surrender all our belongings to him.
Everyone was scared and voluntarily handed their belongings to him. I thought what he was doing was wrong so I had to do something, but doing something could also put me in danger. I was relieved wasn't in the room with us so when I finally found a chance to jump on him, I was trying to get the gun out of his hand while he was trying to knock me off. I knew some men inside the shop helped us, but he pulled the trigger of the gun creating more panic inside the room. I was able to put the man down on the floor and someone took the gun from his hand. At that moment, the only thing that was running through my head was the safety of everyone, but later on, we found out that someone was shot in the shoulder after that accidental firing.
As we put the robber on the ground, they called the police. My knee was on the back of his head while the two other guys was on his hands and feet.
I shook my head at my wife telling her not to come closer to us until the situation was safe. The police took a while before they arrived at the scene. They took the man with them as well as the gun and motorbike he used. They also asked to get CCTV footage of the shop for further evidence. The paramedics assured her na magiging okay siya.
When the shop went back to normal, the owner of the shop asked everyone if they were okay. Synestine came forward and hugged me so tightly.
"I was so shocked no'ng marinig ko'yong gun shot kanina. Sobrang lakas," kwento pa nito. "Are you sure you're fine? Look at your face, babe. . . Namumula ang pisngi mo at may dugo ng kaunti ang mukha mo. I think we should get back to the hotel na. That'll be safer for both of us."
"What about your Passion Fruit tea?" I asked.
She scoffed, shaking her head. "Hayaan mo muna 'yon. I don't need it. I need you the most right now so let's get you to patch up sa hotel. Mabuti na lang talaga at ligtas ka. I wouldn't know what to do in my life kapag nawala ka. . ."
"Same here, babe. . . Let's get some rest for now. We deserve it."
At that moment, I would meet the end of my life, but I wasn't ready to do it. Sometimes it would take one good soul for everything to be good. Maybe I was that good soul ready to protect everyone's life.
Nang marating din namin ang hotel namin. My wife asked the reception desk if they had any emergency kit that could help us. Mabilis naman nila kaming tinulungan. They even proposed na sila ang titingin sa akin, but my wife insisted to do it herself. I was about to stop her dahil alam kong mahapdi iyon, but she didn't let me do it.
It took her a while before she could finish cleaning all the wounds I got on my face. Iiling-iling pa ito dahil sa nangyari. I told her what happened she was a bit disappointed but proud of what I did. She was proud because I was able to protect all those people there.
"I wouldn't do it again," I spoke. "Maybe I was just lucky earlier and next time won't be."
"That's why you have to be careful," she said reminding me. "Not every battle needs fighting."
"I heard that, babe. I promise!" I said, saluting. "The only battle I have to do for the rest of my life is to love and protect you."
"I know that. . ." she said, sliding her finger on my lips. "I want to taste those lips. . ."
She exhaled and her breath was seemingly hot when it touched my skin. The next thing I knew, she was on top of me and kissing me so intensely. This was our honeymoon, but we also planned to go to Boracay next week, but I guess, something's happening sooner than I expected.
When our room seemingly turned hot, Synestine took her clothes off and mine. I couldn't hide my amazement at how she was doing it for us. As soon as our naked body touched, we switched and I was on top of her. Her hand was on the back of my head while the other one was cupping her breast. As I positioned myself, I opened her legs wider so I could get inside smoothly, and when I was finally inside her, I could feel her heated flesh enveloping my manhood.
I knew at that moment my love for Synestine couldn't compare to anyone else. She's the only one that matters to me now and I can't afford to lose her and the same for me. I don't want to risk my life just to leave her alone when for the past years, I've been wanting to share this life with and now that I've got the chance to do it, why would I waste it?
There's nothing in this world I would exchange my love for Synestine. No one. Nobody.
