the south of france is breathtakingly beautiful, with its sun-soaked landscapes, charming villages, and the sparkling mediterranean sea stretching out as far as the eye can see. the partridge family, along with juniper, are spending their first day of the trip exploring the picturesque region. louis' sisters, millie and issie, are full of energy, darting ahead on the cobblestone streets, giggling as they point out different sights.

juniper tries to keep up with their enthusiasm, but her mind is elsewhere. the worry gnawing at her is hard to shake. it's been almost two days since she last heard from jack, and the silence is starting to drive her crazy. she pulls out her phone once more, checking it instinctively, but there are no new notifications. no missed calls, no texts. nothing.

louis noticed the distracted girl, her eyes zoning out every now and then. "june, everything okay?"

she looks up, startled out of her thoughts. louis is watching her with concern, his brow furrowed slightly. they've known each other long enough for him to pick up on when something's bothering her.

"yeah, i'm fine. just... tired, i guess, this was a pretty last minute trip," she lied, attempting a small laugh.

louis isn't convinced. he nudges her playfully with his shoulder as they walk, a small smile on his face.

"come on, you're with us in the south of france. you should be having the time of your life, not glued to your phone," he teased.

juniper manages a weak smile in return, tucking her phone away in her pocket. she knows he's right. this is a beautiful place, and she should be enjoying every moment of it. but the nagging worry about jack won't leave her alone.

"i know, i'm trying. it's just... jack's been really quiet, and i can't help but worry that something's wrong."

louis' smile falters a little at the mention of jack, but he quickly hides it. he knows how much juniper has been looking forward to her date with jack, and he doesn't want to dampen her mood by showing how he feels. instead, he tries to be supportive.

"maybe he's just busy with work. you know how crazy schedules can get for actors," louis defended jack.

"yeah, maybe... but it's not like him to just go silent like this—at least from what i know about him," she sighed.

louis watches her, feeling a pang of sympathy. ne can see how much she cares about jack, and while it stings a little to know that she's moved on, he just wants her to be happy. he wraps an arm around her shoulders, pulling her into a side hug.

"hey, don't let it ruin your trip, okay? we're here for a couple of days, and i promise we'll make the most of it. jack will sort himself out, and when you get back, everything will be fine," louis reassured, trying his best to comfort juniper.

juniper leans into the hug, grateful for his support. louis has always been good at keeping her grounded, and she appreciates that he's trying to make her feel better.

"thanks, lou. you're right. i'll try to focus on enjoying the trip," she spoke softly, attempting to match her smile to his.

"that's the spirit. now, come on, issie and millie are dying to show you this cute little café they found. apparently, they have the best pastries in the city," he grinned.

with that, louis steers her towards his sisters, who are eagerly waiting near the entrance of a charming café, its outdoor seating area bathed in sunlight. as they settle in at a table, juniper does her best to push her worries aside and focus on the present moment. the café is warm and inviting, with the smell of freshly baked pastries filling the air. louis and his sisters chat animatedly, their parents having stayed back to take more photos of the others, louis pulling juniper into the conversation, making her laugh despite herself.
