juniper is sitting on her bed, her laptop propped up on a pillow as she facetimes jack. the screen is split between them, jack's familiar face smiling back at her, though his eyes have that mischievous glint that always makes her heart skip a beat.

leaning closer to the camera, his voice playful, jack spoke. "so, are you finally going to give me some spoilers about the 'espresso' music video and the song itself, or are you going to keep torturing me with this radio silence?"

juniper laughs, shaking her head as she adjusts the camera. she knows he's fishing for details, but she's enjoyed keeping him in suspense, especially for another song that's about him, she hasn't allowed him to hear even a snippet; he only knows the title.

"i could... but where's the fun in that? you'll just have to wait like everyone else," she teased.

jack groans dramatically, falling back against his couch, his hand over his heart like he's been mortally wounded.

"that's cruel, june. here i am, dying of curiosity, and you're just stringing me along," he groaned.

juniper smirked at his antics. "i'm sure you'll survive. besides, you'll see it soon enough."

there's a brief pause, and when jack speaks again, his voice is softer, more sincere. "i've really missed you, you know. it's weird not having you around now."

juniper feels a warm flutter in her chest at his words. she'd been feeling the same way, missing his presence, the easy banter they share, the way he always manages to make her smile.

"i've missed you too, champ. but i'll be back in new york soon. just a few more days," she spoke, her voice gentle.

jack's smile returns, a little lopsided and endearing.

"really? when?", he asked hopefully, making juniper smile at his excited-ness.

"i'm flying back this weekend. but i'm going to visit my mom, dad, and sister first. it's been a while since i've seen them," she explained, a small smile on her face at the thought of seeing her family again after almost four months.

jack nods, understanding, his voice fond. "that's good. they'll be happy to see you. but don't forget to save some time for me when you're back."

"oh, trust me, i couldn't forget you even if i tried," she teased with a small chuckle.

they both laugh, the easy banter flowing between them again, but there's a comfort in knowing that soon, the distance will close, and they'll be in the same city again.

juniper stands outside her parents' house, suitcase in hand, as she takes a deep breath of the familiar scent of home. the sun is setting, casting a golden hue over the quiet neighborhood. she hasn't been here in a while, but everything looks just as she remembers—warm and inviting.

the front door swings open, and her mother, a woman in her late forties with the same bright, cerulean eyes as juniper, rushes out to greet her, arms wide open.

"juniper! there's my girl!"

juniper grins, dropping her suitcase and running into her mother's arms. they hug tightly, the kind of embrace that's full of love and warmth.
