A couple of days after their heartfelt talk, Jack and Juniper found themselves on a flight to Virginia, heading to meet his mom, Anna. Juniper, despite her confidence on stage in front of thousands, was overwhelmed with nerves. Meeting Jack's mom felt more daunting than any performance she'd ever given.

She knew how close Jack was to his mother, how much Anna meant to him, and she desperately wanted to make a good impression. This was one of the most important people in his life, and she couldn't shake the feeling that everything had to be perfect.

As the plane touched down, and they hopped into an Uber towards his childhood home, Jack noticed how Juniper fidgeted, her leg bouncing slightly as she stared out the window.

"Hey," Jack said softly, reaching over to take her hand. "It's going to be great. You don't need to be nervous. My mom's going to love you—how could she not?"

Juniper smiled but still felt a flutter of anxiety. "I don't know, Jack. She's your mom. What if she doesn't like me? What if I say something stupid?"

"You won't," Jack reassured her, squeezing her hand. "She's a huge fan of yours already. You've got this, I promise."

When they pulled up to the modest but cosy house, Juniper took a deep breath as they walked up to the front door. The second Anna opened it, all of Juniper's nerves seemed to dissipate. Anna Champion greeted them with a warm, beaming smile, immediately wrapping Juniper in a tight hug as if they'd known each other forever.

"Oh my gosh, you're even more beautiful in person," Anna gushed. "And I'm such a fan of your music! Jack's told me so much about you, but I'm so happy to finally meet you in person."

Juniper felt a wave of relief, instantly charmed by Anna's warmth. "It's so great to meet you too," she replied, smiling. "Jack talks about you all the time."

Anna winked playfully at Jack, who stood off to the side grinning. "Good things, I hope."

As the night progressed, they all sat down for a home-cooked dinner, something Juniper hadn't had in a while. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and Juniper found herself at ease, chatting with Anna about her career, her music, and how much she loved working in the industry. Jack sat there, watching the two women he loved most in the world get along, his heart swelling with happiness.

Later in the evening, Jack offered to run to the store to grab some snacks for the movie night they had planned for the next day. While he was gone, Juniper found herself alone with Anna in the living room. They sat on the couch, the fire crackling in the background as they sipped on tea.

"I wanted to show you something," Juniper said, pulling out her phone. "I've been working on this demo with Taylor Swift, actually, and it's... well, it's about Jack."

Anna's eyes lit up. "I'd love to hear it."

Juniper hit play on the demo for the song Labyrinth, the haunting melody filling the room. As Anna listened to the emotional lyrics, especially the part where Juniper sings about how scared she was of falling in love again, her eyes softened. She could hear just how deeply Juniper cared for her son, and it moved her. By the time the song ended, Anna had a hand to her heart.

"That's beautiful," Anna whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "The way you talk about him, the way you sing about him... I can tell how much you love him."
