Jack stood backstage at the massive Coachella set, his eyes glued to Juniper as she rehearsed.

It had been a month since he had met Juniper's parents, and since they realised how much they loved the boy. In that time, the couple had only grown closer, their connection running a lot deeper than either of them realised.

In that month, Jack had been finishing up filming a movie he had booked back in early 2022. They started filming in late 2022, but had to do re-shoots etc, so he had been dividing his time between that and his girlfriend.

They had returned to New York for Juniper to work on her album, and so Jack could work. But they had returned to Los Angeles around a month after, in preparation for the last two days before Juniper performed at Coachella.

The California sun was beating down, and even though they were technically in the desert, the heat wasn't bothering him—his focus was solely on her. The stage was a vibrant, faux motel set, filled with lighting rigs, background dancers, and musicians, all blending together to create the magic of her performance. The sound was booming as Juniper's voice echoed across the empty venue, her final dress rehearsal before the festival.

Jenna stood next to him, her sunglasses perched on her head as she watched their friend command the stage. Jack felt a little out of place, like he always did in these moments, but being here for Juniper made it all worth it. He glanced at Jenna, who had a smirk on her face.

"Watching her is something else, huh?" Jenna said, bumping him with her shoulder.

"Yeah," Jack muttered, his voice a little distant as he continued to stare.

Juniper was a force—completely captivating. She moved effortlessly, her energy electric as she belted out the lyrics to her song "Bed Chem." The whole time, Jack couldn't tear his eyes away. He marveled at how she seemed to glow under the stage lights, her passion evident in every movement, every note she hit. He couldn't help but smile as she nailed the choreography with her dancers, the crowd that would soon fill the venue would go absolutely wild.

Jenna leaned in closer, nudging him again. "You've got it bad, don't you?"

Jack blinked, turning his attention to her. "What?"

"Come on, Jack," she said, teasing him with a playful grin. "I see the way you look at her. You're head over heels."

Jack laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's that obvious?"

Jenna smiled, but her gaze softened. "Yeah, but it's a good thing. You care about her a lot."

Jack nodded, but his face grew more serious. He sighed, leaning his arms on the railing that separated the backstage area from the stage. "I do. A lot more than I ever expected to." He paused, glancing back at Juniper as she spun in sync with her dancers. "I think i love her her, Jenna. But it scares the hell out of me."

Jenna watched him closely, her expression softening. "Why does it scare you?"

"I don't know," Jack admitted. "I've never felt this way about anyone before. And with everything going on—her career, all the attention—sometimes I just feel like I don't fit into her world. Like she could have anyone, you know?"

Jenna rolled her eyes dramatically. "Oh, stop it. You're Jack Champion. And you're great for her. She wouldn't have let you get this close if she didn't feel the same way."
