Sarah returned to her room to put down the book she had received from Tom.
She smiled as she placed it on her desk, feeling happy and not even knowing why. She looked out the large window in the room; it was a day that shouldn't be spent indoors.
After leaving the Gryffindor common room, where only first and second years were present, she started walking calmly. She turned the corner that would lead her to the courtyard but bumped into something—or someone. She looked ahead, trying to carefully observe the exact spot where she had collided when Harry's head popped out of nowhere.

The girl screamed, taking a couple of steps back, placing her hand on her chest. Harry was looking at her, laughing; he loved his friends' reactions to these sorts of things.
"What are you doing here? With the cloak?"
"I'm going to Hogsmeade."
The response was so spontaneous that it left Sarah stunned.
"And how exactly?" she asked challengingly, crossing her arms over her chest.
Harry pulled a large piece of brown parchment from under the cloak.
"Fred and George, they gave me this. It lets you know where everyone is and even the secret passages to Hogsmeade."
Sarah looked at the object curiously, took it in her hands, but didn't see any writing on it.
"But there's nothing written on it, Harry" she said, turning the map to show him.
The boy pulled out his wand and whispered

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."

The map came to life, with large writing now visible in front of her.

"Messrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs are proud to present the Marauder's Map."
A thousand names began to appear as they moved throughout the castle. She saw her name and Harry's right at the exact spot where they were standing.
"It's brilliant" the girl whispered, watching Dumbledore go up and down in his office.
"They showed me a safe passage, want to come with me?" Harry asked, making room for her under the cloak.
Sarah looked around before following him, not willing to let the boy go alone on this little adventure.

It wasn't easy for the two of them to reach Hogsmeade, the passage was narrow and dimly lit, but soon enough, they managed to reach their destination.

"And now?" Sarah whispered, looking around at the people walking by calmly.
She was nervous, she could see them, but they couldn't see her.
She got lost in observing the small village, full of shops and people. Everything was decorated for Christmas, even small gnomes were singing traditional songs of that holiday.
Together, the two walked toward the Shrieking Shack; Ron had mentioned wanting to visit it, and according to Harry, they would find him there.

From afar, Sarah saw three figures standing with their backs to them, she immediately recognized the hair, and so did Harry.
"Malfoy?"
Draco, along with two other Slytherins, was standing in front of Hermione and Ron. The girl was fearlessly responding to the provocations she was receiving, while Ron was nervously watching the Shrieking Shack behind him.
Sarah saw Harry clench his fists and take a step forward. She had to stop him to avoid being discovered by the others.
"What are you doing?" Sarah whispered.
Harry took his friend's hand, pulled her behind a tree, and slipped the cloak off her.
"I know you don't want to take part in this, so just enjoy the show," he said, smiling before vanishing into thin air.
His footprints were the only thing visible to Sarah, who managed to keep an eye on him somehow.
She barely had time to look up before Draco Malfoy was hit by a snowball not far from her. The boy turned around angrily, looking behind him where there was no one.
"Who did that?" he said, frightened.
But his words were cut off by another snowball hitting him square in the face.
Harry laughed under the cloak, but he wasn't done. He approached Draco, who was now on the ground from the impact, grabbed him by the feet, and dragged him toward the entrance that led to what was seen as the most haunted house in the wizarding world.
Malfoy screamed like a child, and Sarah couldn't help but laugh at his exaggerated reaction.
The Slytherins ran off, leaving the group alone.
Sarah left her hiding place when Harry revealed himself to Hermione and Ron.
"Blimey, Harry, that wasn't funny," Ron said.

Together, all four of them returned to the village, looking for a warm place to warm up. All the establishments were plastered with posters depicting Black.
"They didn't tell me about the Marauder's Map" Ron said after discovering the truth.
"But Harry's not going to keep it...he's going to give it to Professor McGonagall. Right?" Hermione continued.
Sarah looked at her, "Along with the Invisibility Cloak?" she joked, knowing the girl's answer.

They arrived in front of a pub, The Three Broomsticks.
Madam Rosmerta was outside when Professor McGonagall and Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, arrived at the pub.
"Rosmerta, my dear. I hope business is going well!" the Minister smiled.
The woman, however, didn't seem pleased.
"It would be better if the Ministry didn't send Dementors into my pub every other night!" She menacingly approached the man, who kept backing away.
"Well... there's a murderer on the loose," Fudge hastily replied.
"Sirius Black in Hogsmeade!? And what would he be doing here?" the woman almost shouted, drawing even more attention from the four Gryffindors.
The Minister approached the woman, whispering something that was soon repeated out loud by Rosmerta.
"Potter and Settimini?"
Fudge, McGonagall, and Rosmerta quickly entered the pub.
Harry had already pulled out the cloak, covering not only himself but also Sarah.
The girl felt Harry dragging her with him, and Ron and Hermione couldn't do anything to stop them.
Once inside, they followed the three upstairs.

"Why did you drag me here, Harry?" Sarah whispered.
"It wasn't just my last name that was mentioned, was it?" the boy responded matter-of-factly as he opened the door Rosmerta had just closed.
They positioned themselves silently in a part of the room, observing the rest of the people present in complete silence.
"Professor Dumbledore doesn't want Dementors around, I assure you" McGonagall began.
Rosmerta locked the door that had been opened and then moved towards the Minister.
"Then tell me, what's this all about!"
The professor made herself comfortable on the couch in front of the fireplace.
"Well, many years ago, when Harry's parents realized they were marked, do you remember? They went into hiding. Few knew where they were. One of them was Sirius Black. And he told You-Know-Who!" she said, exasperated.
Fudge took the floor,
"That night, not only did Black lead You-Know-Who to the Potters, but he also killed a friend of theirs... PETER PETTIGREW!"
"He was a rather insignificant boy, always following Black around" the professor continued.
"Peter Pettigrew tried to warn the Potters, and he would have succeeded if he hadn't run into an old friend... Black!"
The Minister approached a bottle that was right next to Sarah and Harry.
He seemed to look in their direction, and the girl placed a hand over both her mouth and Harry's.
"Black was evil. He didn't just kill Pettigrew, he obliterated him. One finger, that's all that was left, one finger!!"
"Sirius Black may not have laid hands on the Potters, but he's the reason they're dead," McGonagall got up from the couch, walking towards Fudge, who quickly continued "And now he wants to finish what he started."
The professor took the glass she was offered, quickly bringing it to her lips to wet them.
"But that's not the worst of it. Sirius Black betrayed not only the Potters that night but also Marlene McKinnon."
Rosmerta covered her mouth with a hand
"But they were married!!! And then... and then he was a father!"
"Yes, he was a father. The child was about the same age as Harry. He left his wife to die that night."
"And the child?" Rosmerta asked.
McGonagall looked at Fudge
"She was taken away by Dumbledore shortly after, fortunately far away. But only until recently. Dumbledore insisted she come to Hogwarts this year" she continued "She doesn't know the truth, she knows nothing of what happened, and Dumbledore wants to prevent any catastrophe."
Fudge took a sip of the whiskey before placing it on the table in front of the fire
"There's even worse.."
McGonagall brought a hand to her mouth, almost sobbing.
"Sirius Black is still the godfather of Harry Potter and the father of Sarah Settimini!"
