Sarah had been following Ron up and down the common room for ten minutes, trying to calm him down before the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin match.

It was also his first time as the team's goalkeeper, and the heavy responsibilities placed on him had kept him awake all night.
"What if I fall? What if I accidentally throw the ball and hit someone? What if..."
Sarah stopped him, placing her hands on his shoulders, exhausted by the endless "What ifs" he had been repeating for a while.
"How about we get out of here and grab a quick breakfast? You can get some fresh air and calm down, okay?"
The boy nodded uncertainly, already wearing what looked like a headguard, and left the common room with his friend.

The common room was packed, and only two colors stood out among the crowd: red and green.
The Slytherin table was full of students ready for the match, though the players were still missing. A few of them, whom Sarah recognized as Crabbe and Goyle, began pointing their fingers at the redhead walking nervously to his seat.
"Nice helmet, Weasley!" one of them shouted.
Sarah was behind him, watching them one by one, irritated. She hated the rest of that house:arrogant, rude, and absolutely stupid.
She paused before taking her seat and glanced at the rivals' table with a small smile on her face.
She raised her middle finger, showing it to the Slytherins before turning and sitting next to the redhead.
"You could've avoided that,"Hermione said as she set her newspaper down on the table.
"No, I couldn't, and I didn't want to," Sarah replied, grabbing a toast from the tray in front of her.
"Slughorn is throwing a party soon, and we can invite someone of our choice," Granger said, glancing occasionally at Ron, who was too nervous and focused on the upcoming match to pay attention.
"Oh really? I assume you're going with someone else," the boy's tone was different from usual, anxiety was eating him alive.
"Actually, I wanted to ask you," Hermione said sharply, her eyes returning to the newspaper as she didn't dare to look up again.

Sarah shifted her attention to the entrance of the Great Hall: Theo, Mattheo, and Blaise walked in, already wearing part of their uniform, followed by the rest of their group.
She almost choked when she saw Tom walk through the door, his team uniform hugging his athletic frame, with his black Nimbus 2001 in hand.
The girl watched as he took his seat at the Slytherin table, noticing the focused expression on his face.
Tom raised his gaze, and his eyes landed directly on Black, who couldn't hold his stare for long. She turned back to her plate, her face flushed.
Hermione, who had noticed the boys entering and taking their seats, was watching her with a small smile, glancing back and forth between her friend and Tom.

She was about to speak when a voice made them turn around.
"Good luck, Ron!" Lavender Brown had had eyes only for Ron Weasley for some time now, and that was clear to everyone.
"I know you'll be great," her eyes sparkled as she gazed at the boy, and she awkwardly walked away without taking her eyes off him.
Sarah followed her with her eyes before turning to her friend.
"A new fan, I see..."
"I'm quitting. McLaggen can have my spot!" the redhead said, throwing his hands up, earning a glare from Harry, who handed him a goblet of juice.
"Drink," he said simply.

"Good morning," a voice made Sarah jump from the bench. Luna sat next to her.
"Holy sh—"
"You look awful, Ron. Is that why you put something in his cup?" the Ravenclaw asked with her usual simplicity, wearing a lion-shaped hat today.
Hermione saw Harry put the bottle of liquid luck in his pocket and widened her eyes in horror.
"Don't drink that, Ron! You could get expelled for this," she said, turning to Potter.
Harry seemed confused, not understanding what she meant, and was urging his friend to hurry up.
Ron grabbed the goblet in his hands and quickly drank all its contents.
His face became almost more radiant, and a big smile appeared on his lips.
He jumped up, enthusiastically shaking Harry's hand.
"Let's go win this game!"
The two quickly left the Great Hall, watched by all the students.
Sarah turned to Hermione, who was still staring at the two boys.
"If it actually works though..." Sarah started, but Hermione immediately cut her off.
"No, don't say anything else," she said, raising her newspaper to cover her frowning face.
