October, 1997

Many days had passed since returning to Hogwarts, and Sarah was now certain that she had gotten herself into something far bigger than she could handle.

She noticed the stares following her wherever she went, the way people kept an eye on her.
Some even seemed to fear her. It was the first time she had truly felt the weight of her last name.
But she wasn't there to be the subject of the school's curiosity, there were far more important matters to deal with.
She hadn't heard from Harry and the others in months, and even communication with Remus had been reduced to the bare minimum.
On the nightstand beside her bed, the radio was always tuned to Potterwatch, though finding the right frequency was difficult, and sometimes she missed parts of the broadcast. She knew who was behind it, and when Remus's voice—or even Fred's—reached her ears, she could feel, if only for a moment, a little less alone.

The only certainties she had left were the friends who shared her same ideals, first among them Neville. They had never had a deep bond before that year, despite belonging to the same House, but now they had become allies, confidants.
They spent a lot of time together in the common room with a few other trusted companions, including Pansy.
For days, they had been gathering information on the Carrows and their lessons. The hospital wing was becoming more and more crowded with students injured from the punishments inflicted by the two siblings, yet no one was doing anything to stop them.

The rain drummed against the tall windows of the castle as a pale, weary light filtered into the Muggle Studies classroom. It was mid-afternoon, but the gloomy atmosphere made it feel as though evening had already fallen.

Sarah took her seat, surrounded by the whispers of the other students. The air was heavy, charged with a tension that seemed to grow with every new lesson imposed by the Carrows.

That day, it would be Alecto's turn.

With a sneer on her face, Alecto Carrow strode into the classroom. Her dark eyes swept over the rows of students, scrutinizing each one with thinly veiled contempt. What had once been a subject dedicated to studying the Muggle world had now become a tool to spread lies and poison—just like The Daily Prophet did so shamelessly these days.
"Good afternoon," Alecto hissed, her voice thin and slithering like that of a snake. "Today, at last, we will talk about the true nature of Muggles."

With a flick of her wand, a single word appeared on the blackboard behind her, written in ink as dark as the night: INFERIOR.
"As you all know," Alecto began, walking slowly between the rows of desks, "Muggles are inferior to us, the magical folk! They are weak, devoid of magic, and—most importantly—dangerous. They seek to corrupt our world with their ridiculous, nonsensical ideas."
Sarah slowly turned to Pansy, sitting beside her as always, but this time, the girl was staring at the woman in silence. Her hands were clenched on the desk, knuckles white. Afraid. She knew that if she said the wrong thing, she might become the next target.

"And that is why it is our duty," Alecto continued, her voice growing more fervent, "to keep them away from us, away from everything that is pure. They will tell you they are just like us, but the truth is that they want to destroy us." Her words echoed through the room like a poisonous whisper.
Sarah forced herself to stay still when every fiber of her being wanted to do the opposite—she wanted to scream, to fight back, to shout that it was all lies.

How could they truly believe her? How could Hogwarts be turned into a stage for hatred and deceit?

Alecto stopped in the center of the classroom, letting her gaze slide over the students, studying their expressions.
"Any questions?" she asked then, with a sneer. "Is anyone eager to share their thoughts on Muggles?"
The silence that fell over the room was almost deafening. No one dared to speak. And yet, Sarah felt her blood boiling in her veins. She was already reaching her limit. Too much hatred. Too many lies.
