Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best✈︎✈︎✈︎ ✰ ✈︎✈︎✈︎
✈︎✈︎✈︎ ✰ ✈︎✈︎✈︎IT HAD BEEN exactly two years since the three best friends had graduated from the Naval Academy. They had become Lieutenants and had been flying together for the Navy in Mayport, Florida. They all had their own callsign now.
Logan had actually gotten 'Storm' as his callsign, since it didn't happen only once that he had flown with a big storm or an hurricane.
Bradley's callsign was 'Rooster'. It was actually Emily who firstly called him that. He still didn't have a callsign and she thought that it fit him since it was similar to his father's, 'Goose'. Since then everyone began to call him that.
Emily's callsign was 'Star', it came from the fact that every time before flying she would ask her wingman 'ready to reach the stars?'. It was her thing, so everyone began to call her like that. The only one that answered, though, was Bradley who replied saying 'always'.
They always flew together and most of the time Emily and Logan flew in the same plane, Emily as the pilot and Logan as her WSO, while Bradley was their wingman or they were his.
Outside of the Navy, Bradley and Emily had gotten even closer. After their first date four years ago it didn't take them long to actually get together and once they finished the academy their relationship became even more serious. They were simply meant to be, and knew how to manage their relationship even at work.
Bradley had also grown a moustache over the years, Emily had told him that he looked a lot like his father now.
It was a hot morning when they were called inside the office of the Commander Mike 'Rocky' Davis. They had quite a reputation. The twins, despite hating their father, were really similar to him. They were troublemakers and were often called dangerous, but they were damn good and Bradley was just like them. They always did everything together, no matter what.
They stood outside the Commander's office when Logan knocked on the door. They were quite nervous. They knew that they risked every day with some of the shit they pulled and they were pretty sure that they were getting another scolding, even if they knew they were too good and they weren't going to let them go so easily.
"Come in", they heard the Commander say and did like he said.
The three walked in and went to stand in front of his desk, their backs straight and their heads held high.
"Lieutenants, I gotta say you've got quite a history. High-speed passes over seven air-control towers and many reckless acts. You got an ego bigger than an house, all three of you. You've pissed off many people, multiple times, including me", the Commander said and they kept their heads high, already used to being scolded. "And yet, you three are the best here and probably could be some of the best in the whole navy."
At this they all furrowed their brows. Was he complimenting them?
"Honestly, I still can't believe it. You all are three lucky sons of a bitch. But I gotta send somebody of this squadron to San Diego. What you have been wanting since I've firstly met you. Hell, what every Navy pilot wants. And despite everything I know you are the best pilots I have here. So go pack because for the next five weeks you're going to Top Gun", he told them almost reluctantly.
The three had to try really hard to hide their excitement and their smiles. They had been wanting this since they were kids. Slowly they moved their heads the tiniest bit to look at each other seeing how they were all equally excited.
"You better not screw up because this was my choice and I don't wanna make a bad impression because of you three. Understood?", the Commander asked them raising his voice.
"Yes, sir!", they all said together and the Commander sighed as he looked at them.
"That is all. Dismissed", he said and quickly they moved to the door. Before they could get out, though, he stopped them.
"Lieutenants", he called them and they turned around. "Good luck."
"Thank you, sir."
"Thanks."
"Thank you."
They all spoke at the same time, smiles already present on their faces before leaving the office and closing the door behind them. Once they were out they didn't waste time to hug each other excitedly, jumping around and laughing like little kids. They were going to Top Gun!

San Diego, California
Fightertown U.S.A.The three best friends were driving through the big empty street that led to the Top Gun base. They were on two bikes, one was Logan's and the other Emily's. In the end she had decided to buy a motorcycle and she had bought a Kawasaki similar to her brother's. Bradley was sitting behind Emily, his strong arms wrapped around her waist.
They were driving alongside one another racing against an F-18 that was taking off on the highway beside them. They were all wearing their leather jackets, Emily was wearing the one Bradley had gifted her four years earlier.
Once they arrived they parked their bikes in front of the base and got off. They looked up at the big white Navy Top Gun base. It was like they were home.
