It was currently the next day, I had already showered, eaten, and brushed my teeth so I decided to go for a walk outside which my family chose to join and as we walked past the flowers all I could think about was Malik.

I hadn't spoken to him since last night which made it incredibly hard for me to focus on anything else.

All I wanted to do was see him—even if it was just for a second.

All I wanted to do was hear him—even if it was just a single word.

I wondered if this is how I'd be every single day when he was miles away and I was in my palace.

I wondered if I'd be able to focus on my work again, but a part of me knew after him nothing would go back to normal.

Not when I already had a taste of something so sweet and addicting.

Not when I knew what I'd give to be with him.

Every guard we strolled past had something to whisper about or they glared at us so hard that it had me convinced that holes were forming in my skin.

"How have you guys been settling in?" I asked them, breaking the silence.

"I have nothing to complain about, everyone has been accommodating," Ariella answered me as she kept an eye on our brother.

"Mom, how do you feel?" I inquired, pulling a weak smile from her.

"Tired, the baby can come at any minute."

"I told you to stay inside." Kai stated softly.

"I needed fresh air, plus Dante wanted me to explore with him." She explained which had my eyes following my brother who was running around the place.

"I saw some kids his age around the palace this morning, do you think they'd want to play with him?" My sister raised the question.

"Even if they did, I'm not sure their parents would allow them," I declared while reminding her of everyone's disdain towards us.

"We should at least try."

"I'm happy to see you all are trying to put in the effort." We heard Zemerah behind us and we instantly pulled our walk to an end as we turned to face her.

"Good morning." I greeted her with a faint smile.

"To what do we owe this pleasure?" Kai asked and I was surprised to hear there was no underlying hatred in his voice.

"Malik wants to see Zaelah." She informed us, shifting her eyes from my father to me.

"He couldn't come himself?" I asked her, earning a light chuckle before she replied.

"I ask him the same thing every day, but I think he just likes ordering me around." She admitted.

"I'll see you guys later then," I told my family before turning to Zemerah.

"Lead the way."

Zemerah led me down familiar halls that held different portraits of the humans who originally lived here. I noticed a few were taken down and replaced with portraits of the alphas I had met last night along with a woman whose features reminded me of Malik and I could only guess she was his mother.
