"So Zaelah, when will you be leaving?" Omari questioned me.

"I haven't really thought about that, but I guess the day after tomorrow." I declared finally coming to terms that I wouldn't be seeing Malik for a while after I left because I knew we'd both be busy.

"Why do you ask?" Ariella inquired.

"I wanted to get to know you all better so I can properly assess your characters and your true motives." He answered with unmistakable honesty that shocked me.

"I never took you as the cautious type." Kai commented, drawing Omari's attention from my sister to him.

"Is it my boyish charms?" He joked and Kai shook his head.

"No, your childishness."

"Kai, can't you be civil for a minute?" My mother asked with a frown, tired of his remarks.

"It's fine, I know it takes years for the human male to mature and rise above their fragile egos." Omari was the one to say this which had my mother's frown disappearing and Kai's growing.

"Zaelah, do you enjoy being queen?" Yasmine asked me randomly as a way to change the topic and it didn't take a minute for me to answer.

"I don't have to tell you how stressful it can be to be that one person that everyone looks up to and expects greatness from, but at the same time I enjoy serving my people." I answered and her glossed lips formed the perfect smile.

"So that means you won't step down?"

"I can't give you a straight answer at this moment because I don't see a reason to, though in the future I might or I won't," I elucidated and she nodded, indicating that she understood.

"You should definitely come to the ball next month, it will give you the chance to enter the new world Malik is trying to create and you'll be able to make alliances." Yasmine expressed.

"New world?" My brother asked curiously.

"One without violence." She replied gently.

"Does that mean werewolves and humans will be living in harmony?" He asked, earning a nod from her.

"We hope so."

This had Dante smiling before focusing his attention on our sister which allowed me to answer the question Yasmine had asked earlier.

"I'll certainly try my best to, will werewolves be the only ones attending?" I inquired and Isan decided to answer my inquiry as he shook his head.

"The Alkebulans will be joining us as well since we've been at peace with them for centuries."

"Is—" I began but I was unable to finish as everyone stood in an instant when the doors opened and I looked at them confused because I was at a loss about why they were standing, but the simple motion Zemerah made, had me and my family standing as well.

"Good afternoon." I heard Malik's strong voice which cleared up my confusion about their actions.

"Good afternoon, Alpha." Everyone replied in unison before taking a seat and I watched as Malik and Vilen made their way toward our table.

My eyes immediately met Malik's and I couldn't stop my heart from racing as he got closer and closer because I had been aching to see him since he left with Vilen a few hours ago and the relief that entered my chest at his appearance had me letting out a soft breath.
