As I struck my blade the energy in my body shifted from my arms to my core with every attack and block. I could feel my own temperature ignite along with my burning rage. My veins were visible as these bright orange flames. I tried to focus on the water stance like Melena taught me but Calmer left me no choice but to fight on my toes. I was so focused on Calmer that I had forgotten my friends were fighting their hearts out with that other devil. Calmer caught me off guard and cut a deep gash into my abdomen. I instantly fell to the ground and held my gut in pain. Calmer walked around me and laughed maniacally. She grabbed the back of my head and threw me into a tree then pierced me with my own blade.

"It's a shame you couldn't save them. How many do you think I'll kill this time?" Calmer traced her finger across my mask and tilted her head. I couldn't shake what she said. What does she mean this time? I grabbed her by the neck and pulled her close. She had visible anger on her face as I disgraced her name and told her to leave them alone. Calmer in return grabbed my wrist and snapped the bone with no struggle. I groaned in pain, the only thing I could hear was the clashing and clinging of blades against devil flesh. Calmer kept the chatter "Have you discovered her love for you yet?" she said.

"Maybe I'll kill her first, I'll make sure she knows you failed to save her." Judy whispered. She walked away from me and directly to my friends. My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest, blood pouring from my gut and broken arm dangling. I kept my glare onto Calmer as she reached my friends. "Mazoku" The first droplet hit the faucet "Mazoku" The second droplet hit the faucet "Mazoku help me kill her" The last droplet fell into the faucet. My arm is gaining strength as the same liquid Casper has snapped my arm back in place. My insides sealing up as bright red flames sprouted from my body. I felt an aching pain in my forehead along two points, my eyes felt like they were burning. A savage mindset to kill drowned me. I pulled the sword from my gut and sprinted so fast it was almost instantaneous when I caught up to Calmer. I felt my bones breaking in my fingertips to allow this black liquid to form sharp claws. I slashed away at her legs. She healed immediately and fought back. I pounced on her and carved deep into her chest cavity. Blood gushed into my face, her lungs being ripped apart and spread across the floor like a popped party balloon. I was knocked off by the trickster. He and Calmer tag teamed me to no end. I blocked all their attacks but slowly they were carving into bone tissue. Through all the pain I knew my goal still remained, I slashed and pierced with every ounce of my strength. When the time was right, I grabbed my sword stuck in the ground and kept up the siege of slashing waves. I felt the friction clash so hard sparks would spew from the blade. A dancing flash of bright red flames trailed my sword. I finally devised the right set of motions, Calmer can only take so much before needing to heal. The trickster takes damage but with enough speed I can kill him before he can heal. I used my own body weight as an accelerant to create a whirlwind attack. Like a fire tornado I spun into the trickster, his wounds burned his flesh away while the deep cuts revealed his spinal cord. Blood freshly drenching my eyes he saw nothing more than pure rage cutting through his spine and ending his short life.

Judy had pure terror on her face. She backed away and dug her nail into her forearm. She vanished into a pink mist as soon as her nail left her forearm. I felt sanity come to consciousness, the pain was unbearable. My weak knees gave in as Casper was the first one to jump forward and catch me before I fell.

"Hey kid, stay with me. Are you ok?" She had a blue tint in her eyes as the furious headache started to fade. I can't tell if my tears started flowing or the blood in my eyes just poured down my face. My breathing was unstable, heart pumping like a rapid viper strike. David and Melena hung around by my side. Casper looked at them and held my head closer to her. I don't know what they either said or did but Casper broke down right there. I wanted to hug her back but my broken arm finally lost its strength and went limp completely. My other arm refused to move along with my legs. I could barely decipher what they were saying but I could hear something about an old headquarters. I was carried like a small child in Casper's arms. I remember small bits of the forest and back into Confort. Everywhere was dark until it felt like I just blinked and I was in a hospital bed.

Casper

We carried him discreetly through the woods and into David's old apartment complex. I never wanted to believe in the future. I'd be helping the seeker clan kill demons but here we are. The trip itself wasn't very interesting but something felt like David and Melena were more than just the enemy working with us, it actually felt like they cared about us. This kid going limp in my arms made me silently break down multiple times. When we set him down on the bed Melena pulled me aside while David worked on him. She asked me to sit with her in the hallway just outside the door. I had my eyes locked on that damned room while she talked to me. She told me reassuring things like how David is a medical specialist and the kid isn't a normal human so he should be fine from the damage he's taken. I asked her why she and David decided to help us. She paused for a moment and held her hand on my shoulder. She told me about the first time we met, she and David wanted nothing more than for my death. She also called back to when we started fighting the other demons. Melena admitted she had never seen a devil like me or him. I stopped her there, I needed to know why she called us devils. Melena folded her arms "You actually believe you aren't a devil?" I looked at her and folded my arms back at her.

"And you believed I am a devil?" I responded. Melena grabbed both my shoulders and playfully shook me back and forth.

"You literally have horns, you are a devil silly." I traced my hands across my head and felt my horns.

"But I don't possess nearly enough energy to pass as a devil." I asserted. Melena shushed me and described how I was able to melt away the carcass of the ghost, become so enraged that fire burned around me, and even have the strength to stay alive while covered in ethier. I pulled back for a second, the shock on my face shown only through my eyes. I asked what ethier was and Melena laughed for a moment. She held up my arm and lectured me on how the black stuff is called ethier. Ethier is symbolic of corruption. The stronger the evil, the more ethier spreads. I checked out my body and asked how she knew all of this. She shrugged her shoulders and explained how the kitsune are forced to know the history of angels, demons, devils, and humans.

I told her how the spots appeared after Molech started training me. Melena eyebrow flashed and looked at the doorway.
