Jay's POV

"She's been with you for two years and you guys have a daughter together," I stated.

"It's not worth it," Logan nodded. She took off her ring and threw it at Crockett. "I'll see you in court."

"Logan," I stated. She walked out. "Seriously?"

"Is she going to be okay?" Crockett asked.

"You don't have the right to ask that," I stated as I got out my phone. I walked outside and called Kim. I saw Logan sitting in my truck. "Okay."

"Hey," Kim picked up.

"Hey, the wedding's off. Crockett just dumped her. He was going to leave her at the alter," I stated. "Tell everyone she's sorry, but it's not happening." I got into the truck. "I'm taking her home." I hung up and drove us home. Logan got changed into something a little more comfortable. I took a shower and walked out to the living room. Logan was standing in front of the window, holding her baby. I snapped a picture before getting her attention. "Lo?"

"Yeah?" Logan asked, turning around.

"Do you want something to eat?" I asked. She sighed. "I know you're probably hungry."

"Why me?" Logan asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Two failed engagements. It's like the world doesn't want me to be happy. The best thing to have happened is Oaklynn. She's a blessing in my life."

"Okay, look, Severide made his choice. He wasn't able to make you feel safe," I stated as I walked up to her. "Crockett is an idiot and a coward. He was leaving you at the alter without breaking up with you, face to face." I gave her a hug. "He also said you were in love with someone else." She looked up at me. "Wanna tell me who he thought this mystery man is?"

"I've been with him for 2 years, Jay," Logan replied. "What other guy could I possibly be in love with? I have a daughter with him." She went to sit on the couch. "I'm as confused as you are."

"I think I know who Crockett's talking about," I replied. I got up and grabbed our gala picture from the mantel. "I think he thinks the other guy is me."

"No, I've told him that you're my best friend," Logan nodded. "He understood that, so, there's no way that you're this other guy."

"Think about it this way. How was he at the beginning of the relationship?"

"We spent so much time together. All of our free time was spent together."

"How about when I got home?"

"I mean, I limited my time with him, but only because I wanted to spend time with my best friend," Logan replied. "After we moved across the street, I spent more time with him."

"Okay, I just wanna make sure that you're okay," I nodded. 6 months passed, and I was just getting home for dinner. Logan was setting the table. "Sorry I wasn't able to answer your text."

"It's okay," Logan smiled. "I got Oaklynn into a daycare."

"You couldn't keep using the hospital?"

"For hospital staff only," Logan replied. "Crockett only gets her on the days I'm working. I need to put her in a daycare when I'm off sometimes." I nodded as she put food in front of me. "Oh, and I found us a new place."

"I thought you liked this place," I replied.

"I did, but the new place is equal distance between the 21st and 51," Logan smiled. "Do you wanna go check it out with me tomorrow?"

"Why don't we go right now?" I asked.

"You're about to have dinner, and I am about to wake Oaklynn up for tummy time," Logan replied. "It can wait."

"I have a full work day tomorrow. We can go look at it right now," I nodded. Logan gave in. We got Oaklynn into my truck and I drove us to the address she gave me. We got out and I looked at the place. "It's a house."

"Yeah, so there's more space than what we currently have," Logan replied.

"I thought you didn't want a house."

"Of course I want a house."

"You want a house with me?"

"Yes, Jay Halstead," Logan smiled. "I want a house with you." I looked at her. "I really miss us."

"What?"

"Some nights I lay awake thinking about how I would do absolutely anything to be able to snuggle up next to you, bury my head in your chest, and interlock my fingers with yours. I'd be able to look up at you and smile whenever I wanted to," Logan stated. "I'd be able to lean up and kiss you whenever I wanted. I'd be able to tell you how I feel about you whenever I wanted to. I miss us." She looked at me. "I think I know what Crockett meant when he said he couldn't marry me when I am in love with someone else. He was talking about you."

"No, Logan. Have you fallen recently?" I asked. "I think you might have hit your head."

"I am thinking perfectly fine," Logan stated.

"Let's get you home," I replied. I took us back to our apartment. She went to her room with Oaklynn. I cleaned up the table and food and went to my room. I showered and just laid in bed thinking about what Logan had said. "Don't be an idiot." My phone rang and I looked at it. I picked up. "Halstead."

"Hey, Voight wants us at the district," Kim stated.

"Alright, I'm on my way," I sighed. I hung up, got dressed and went to the 21st. I walked into the bull pen and saw the Lieutenants of 51 there. "So, what do we owe the pleasure?"

"We're going to be in the street fair parade and I know there's going to be a lot of police presence," Stella stated. "We were wondering if we can have Intelligence lead the parade and end the parade."

"Why not ask patrol?" I asked.

"51 is under attack but we're not sure by who," Kelly stated. "We asked to back out but the commissioner said our volunteer was set when we asked to be in the parade months ago."

"And he won't let you back out," I sighed. "Okay, so you take two pairs. That still leaves Voight and I."

"Voight usually rides solo," Herrmann replied.

"Exactly, so what exactly am I going to do?" I asked.

"Oh, you can drive the ambo," Logan smiled as she walked in. "Sorry I'm late. Violet took her sweet time getting to the apartment." I crossed my arms. "Anyways, Vi and I are going to be throwing goodie bags to the side crowds from the back of the ambo."

"Okay, so who came up with that crazy idea?" I asked.

"The idea of the parade is medical safety," Stella stated. "Logan and Violet are basically our front line."

"And Med claims they don't have the staffing or the funding to help the community," Logan stated. "Dispatch is going to be redirecting calls for the duration of the parade."

"Unless ours something serious and they need all the hands they can get," Kelly nodded. "At that point, we would have to leave the parade."

"We have enough firehouses to take the calls for the two hours we're needed," Logan replied. "They can handle the city without us for a couple hours."

"We'll lead and caboose your parade," I stated. "Don't expect anything else."
